From the moment you step in the door to the Vendue Inn you are met with enthusiastic, friendly service and thoughtful touches. You are made to feel welcome and not just another guest passing through. Champagne on arrival, sherry and local cookies in the room, wine and mini appetizers from 4-5 and milk and cookies at 9. There was a welcome note on the bed and a phone call before our visit from the concierge to see if we needed any advance help. Bikes are available to borrow and a sister property on Folly Beach can be accessed by Vendue guests wanting some beach time. The Vendue is on two sides of the road. One side is more traditional with warm wood and a resident artist whose studio can be seen and a more modern light and spacious side where the restaurant and bar are situated. The design of the hotel is elegant and modern but retains charm and warmth too. The grey walls and white trim perfectly enhance the colorful art work shown throughout. Our room 221 was a corner Premier King. It was spacious and well designed with exposed brick and a large bathroom with yet more thoughtful touches -little boxes of items which may have been needed such as a toothbrush and paste. Breakfast was good and served in a lovely dining area. There is also a coffee shop on site and a rooftop bar with views over the area. This is our second visit to the Vendue and should we visit Charleston again it will definitely be our hotel of choice. Thank you Vendue for a lovely stay. We wish it could have been longer!

We stayed with another couple for 2 nights to see Charleston. Disappointed with the lack of parking spots in front of the hotel for staff to help you unload you bags. It was raining, only one spot for guests to unload, circled the block 3 times and finally asked where we could park ourselves. Seedy parking garage & alley to walk over to hotel from there. Our friends stayed in the main hotel and we had a room across the street. Not to happy as we live on opposite sides of our state and never see each other. No other rooms were available to switch - no matter. We really loved our room, more so than our friends in the main hotel. The main hotel is more modern so if your looking for an old charm feel - ask for room 250 or 251 across the street. Breakfast was included, also very delicious (french toast & Shrimp & Grits)! There is port in the room - complimentary- very nice even if we didn't partake. Door was not tightly fitted in the frame and could move - I guess cause it's older?? Roof top bar is nice. Only had cocktails there after trying the lobby bar which is more upscale. Walking thru the halls to see all the art is worth it. The "Resident Artist" in our building was a very neat concept to watch him work. Beautiful paintings too.Pretty much in walking distance everywhere to see the sights. I'd stay there again, but not my husband. He would stay down the block at the Harbor View Inn.....

Stayed here for one night on a girl's weekend. The entire staff from your first hello to your last goodbye is first rate. Champagne upon arrival, rooftop bar and quirky fun artwork make this a unique place to stay. You are in the heart of Charleston. Highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

This hotel was one of the greatest surprises my wife and I have had when traveling. It was an elegant hotel with very friendly staff. They had free Starbucks coffee at their Cafe in the morning which was a great perk. The location was the best part. Right in the heart of historic district downtown, we were able to walk to so many of the attractions of Charleston. When asking the staff suggestions for restaurants they were extremely helpful and we able to even give us coupons for the restaurant they suggested. The space inside the hotel had so much character - from the beautiful chandelier to the art hanging all throughout the inside of the hotel. They have an artist that paints during the day in their hotel. They also gave us a complimentary upgrade to an amazing room. Wonderful overall experience in Charleston and this hotel was a big reason!

Room was ready ahead of schedule. No coffee in room. Room was adequate otherwise. Bellman provided great service. Rooftop lounge was the best part of this hotel. Artwork was interesting. Wine reception was ok. Wine itself was not good. Nibbles were too sweet for the wine. Not a good pairing. No breakfast provided, so went to a little cafe down the street. The location was excellent.
