When we were checking in, the first thing they ask is how our trip was. Followed up with would you like a glass of champagne. Check in was quick even though there were several guests checking in at the same time. The Concierge took us around the property and made sure that we knew where everything was as our bags were being take to our room. The room was very nice. Filled with period antique furniture. They had a decanter filled with bottomless sherry on the dresser. This is an art hotel, so we had a great time walking around and checking out the art. There were several pieces that were interactive which made it fun. There is also a resident artist on site that works on paintings in his studio during the day. I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a trip to Charleston. The location is in the heart of the historic district and sits next to Charleston Harbor. BEAUTIFUL!

Great concept- art gallery throughout. Beautiful art in all rooms which are all different and throughout the property, truly amazing. great service, I preferred the rooms at the main hotel. Cookies and milk at night was a nice touch, food at downstairs restaurant was excellent. Staff of 5 stars. Location is worth the price. Less than 4 blocks to great restaurants, fountain, harbor, view of harbor, city market and stores. Starbucks coffee on site with great service coffee shop. See pictures

I definitely recommend this art boutique hotel. Location to many historical sites, top quality service made our stay extra special. We definitely will come back for an encore! Next time we will stay a week. Concierge was very helpful in arranging dining and sightseeing tours. Enjoyed the complimentary champagne upon arrival. The rooms were decorated with original artwork.

From the moment you step in the door to the Vendue Inn you are met with enthusiastic, friendly service and thoughtful touches. You are made to feel welcome and not just another guest passing through. Champagne on arrival, sherry and local cookies in the room, wine and mini appetizers from 4-5 and milk and cookies at 9. There was a welcome note on the bed and a phone call before our visit from the concierge to see if we needed any advance help. Bikes are available to borrow and a sister property on Folly Beach can be accessed by Vendue guests wanting some beach time. The Vendue is on two sides of the road. One side is more traditional with warm wood and a resident artist whose studio can be seen and a more modern light and spacious side where the restaurant and bar are situated. The design of the hotel is elegant and modern but retains charm and warmth too. The grey walls and white trim perfectly enhance the colorful art work shown throughout. Our room 221 was a corner Premier King. It was spacious and well designed with exposed brick and a large bathroom with yet more thoughtful touches -little boxes of items which may have been needed such as a toothbrush and paste. Breakfast was good and served in a lovely dining area. There is also a coffee shop on site and a rooftop bar with views over the area. This is our second visit to the Vendue and should we visit Charleston again it will definitely be our hotel of choice. Thank you Vendue for a lovely stay. We wish it could have been longer!

We stayed with another couple for 2 nights to see Charleston. Disappointed with the lack of parking spots in front of the hotel for staff to help you unload you bags. It was raining, only one spot for guests to unload, circled the block 3 times and finally asked where we could park ourselves. Seedy parking garage & alley to walk over to hotel from there. Our friends stayed in the main hotel and we had a room across the street. Not to happy as we live on opposite sides of our state and never see each other. No other rooms were available to switch - no matter. We really loved our room, more so than our friends in the main hotel. The main hotel is more modern so if your looking for an old charm feel - ask for room 250 or 251 across the street. Breakfast was included, also very delicious (french toast & Shrimp & Grits)! There is port in the room - complimentary- very nice even if we didn't partake. Door was not tightly fitted in the frame and could move - I guess cause it's older?? Roof top bar is nice. Only had cocktails there after trying the lobby bar which is more upscale. Walking thru the halls to see all the art is worth it. The "Resident Artist" in our building was a very neat concept to watch him work. Beautiful paintings too.Pretty much in walking distance everywhere to see the sights. I'd stay there again, but not my husband. He would stay down the block at the Harbor View Inn.....
