We stayed one night for our anniversary and this was a great pick. The room, which was in the Vendue Range section, was lovely with old wooden floors and beams and a nice gas fireplace. It was very comfortable and the complimentary water bottles, beenie wafers and sherry were a nice touch. The sherry decanter added a touch of elegance. The bartender in their Drawing Room restaurant was one of the best in town! Also, the art was everywhere and it was wonderful. We will be back!

Upon arrival we were greeted at reception by very friendly and helpful staff. A lovely porter named Edward greeted us with a glass of champagne and escorted us to our room across the road. We had a lovely room with complimentary sherry and biscuits. The room was very clean and spacious. Housekeeping were excellent and conceirge were very informative. Each evening at 4pm there was complimentary wine and canapés for hotel guests. All the staff in the restaurant and bar were very friendly and made you feel very welcome. When the sun set there’s no better place to be than the roof top bar.

Stayed in a King Premiere King. Room is not as large as photos. Very Clean and a perfect location. Rooftop bar is very nice. Staff was very helpful. Valet service was very prompt. Only had drinks - ca not comment on food.

The Vendue is in an excellent location that's convenient for walking around historic Charleston. Fantastic restaurants, house/garden tours, and historic streets are steps away. The staff was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was hit or miss. One day housekeeping skipped my room, and it took two calls to the front desk to get it cleaned. Another time, the sink was left running on a soap tray (for how long, who knows?!). The ceiling fan was very dusty, and the general level of cleanliness in the room was only so-so. I enjoyed my stay in Charleston, but was hoping for a bit more from the Vendue. I'd give high marks to the management and reception staff, but low marks to housekeeping.

I’ve been coming to Charleston for three years on short business trips, and always fancied staying at the historic Vendue, ever since I had cocktails on the excellent roof bar with a panoramic view of the city (warning - there’s only one lift, and it can be a crush at peak times, like Saturday night on a fine evening). The rooms are excellent - or at least mine was - and very comfortable, with an air con system even I could work out. A kettle or coffee machine would have been a nice touch, but the free mineral water and free sherry (yes, I said sherry) more than made up for that. I was in 26 Vendue Range, the annex - a quite separate building across the street from the main hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly, so often the case in US hotels. There is a pleasant downstairs bar and restaurant - I had a terrific steak one night - and nice freebies, including wine at the regular art exhibitions there, and milk and cookies in the evening, a nice comfort-food touch. In terms of location it could hardly be better. It’s close to the sea, and within a few minutes’ walk from the Market, King Street shopping and all the main sites. If your feeling lazy or want to go to one of the attractions that might be a walk too far (such as the excellent Aquarium or Charleston Museum) there is a Dash shuttle stop close by, with free shuttle buses every fifteen minutes - a great facility. The water taxi to Patriots Point across the bay is just a few steps away, on Waterfront pier. It’s not the cheapest hotel in Charleston, but for a few nights it’s worth every penny.
