My husband and I heard the Vendue had a great rooftop bar, so we had to see for ourselves. Enter the hotel (which is absolutely beautiful) at the entrance which is the door not at the corner and the elevator is directly inside those doors. We took the elevator up to the rooftop and found a great seat under an umbrella. We watched boats on the bay and had a couple drinks. As we were leaving we saw a stairway and decided to check out what was up the stairs....ANOTHER rooftop bar, above the rooftop bar! The view was now glorious, stunning, and now we couldn't agree more that this was in fact, the best rooftop bar. Not too much of a party, just laid back and enjoyable. Knowing that there is a rooftop on the rooftop, that's where many nights in Charleston will be spent.

We stayed here and got the great rate thru Travelzoo. A beautiful hotel in a perfect location. One block from the waterfront. We walked to most attractions. The artwork is very enjoyable throughout the hotel. We enjoyed the complimentary wine reception every afternoon. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The only downside I noticed was the thin walls/door. Could hear people walking down the hall late at night. Also, the front desk was extremely helpful. We stayed in the main building, but walked across the street to see their beautiful chandeliers!

After a rocky start with the front desk staff and major miscommunication on their part we finally were able to enjoy our 4 day visit. Upon arriving there was no one to help us with our luggage. Thankfully we befriended our Uber driver and he was more than happy to bring them in. They were busy with checkouts though so no fault of theirs. The bellhops are super friendly and go above and beyond to help with anything you need. Once we got situated in our room we were able to relax a bit. The rooms are absolutely stunning. You feel like you're in old world Europe and not in Charleston, SC. Maybe because we're located in the French Quarter? I don't know. The entire grounds are covered with amazing artworks throughout. The hotel is actually two separate buildings directly across from each other. The main building has a restaurant called the Drawing Room. I recommend it for breakfast but dinner was not good at all. So I can't recommend it. They also do not serve lunch in this restaurant either. Two managers of the Drawing Room, Josh and Lana are very knowledgable with everything about Charleston, wine and food. I can't say enough good things about these two. There's a coffee shop attached to the main part called the Press and a rooftop bar that was so bad that I wouldn't advise anyone eat there. It's food was so bad. Kids may enjoy it but then again you're eating at your own risk. Staff at the rooftop bar are not friendly either. It's more of a bar scene up there. Across the street you have the concierge. Don't mistake the tour guide kiosk for the concierge. You actually have to walk into the other building and then to the right and their desk is there. Also in the other building you will see more artwork as well as a beautiful art gallery. The hotel has a resident artist who's name is Fred. Fred's work is pretty amazing. So make sure you check it out if you plan on staying there. Room Service was good. No complaints there. The key lime cheesecake pie was a great nightcap but had a very wet crust. So if you order that just note you won't be getting that beautiful crumbly crust that is so apropos with this type of pie. The hotel is located perfectly. Away from the noise of King or Meeting street but close enough to walk to them as well as Broad street and the Market. One note, if you go and it's raining note that you have an umbrella in the closet of the room. We didn't know until we left. :o) Overall this is a nice hotel. They need a lot of help with food though. It could be a great place if their restaurants were way better. However, don't let this stop you from staying here as there are a handful of amazing restaurants within a stones throw from Vendue. Enjoy

Exceeding our expectations .... The Vendue gets 5 stars from these New Yorkers. Robbie - concierge (you are awesome Robbie) was key to the best recommendations and advice for making the most of our 3 day stay. We stayed in the historical room in building #26. Beautifully appointed with raw wood beams hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, antique furnishings, stunning artwork and exquisite bathroom all while being incredibly comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed our room just as much as our visit to the city. Highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel!

The rooms in this hotel are gorgeous and the location is perfect. You are right by the waterfront, right by wonderful restaurants and lots of shopping. It is central to historic Charleston. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. We had some issues with our shower. There is no coffee in the rooms so be prepared if you are used to having coffee when you wake up! The food in the hotel is great but don't bother eating and drinking in the rooftop bar. The drinks are watered down and the food is horrendous. The the food in the hotel was wonderful, particularly the breakfast. I highly highly recommend this hotel. Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms and great service from the staff.
