Currently staying at the Venue for an anniversary trip. The hotel itself is really nice. Thoroughly enjoyed the art throughout, the wine reception, and the late night cookies and milk. The staff is nice as well and we did receive a bottle of champagne as an anniversary gift. Unfortunately, the room itself is not a hit. I requested a modern decor room, ended up with a room that's mostly gold and ornate. The room has a "balcony" that overlooks parking lot and trash (dump truck woke me up this morning at 7am). The floors are original old wood, which seems cool at first, but not when you can hear every person that walks through the hallway... makes you think someone is trying to get into your room, hence no privacy. The room is also at a noticeable slant (which was really odd to us at first but have gotten used to it since). I really wanted to love this hotel and maybe just got a bad room, but unfortunately for the price we paid I don't think I would stay again or recommend it to someone else.

I had such a wonderful stay at this hotel. It could not have been any more perfect location for me. I was in town for business for two nights. I absolutely loved being by the water and the pineapple fountain, each night I was able to make sunset. The hotel itself is very pretty with wonderful staff that were very helpful. I was so happy to get an early check in when I arrived on Sunday morning being that I was going to an event that afternoon. I especially loved the art exhibit throughout the hotel. And the rooftop was a big park, you can see the water as well as all of the beautiful buildings in Charleston. The room was big enough, with a great view of the street and very quiet. Entire hotel was very clean which is very important and everybody was extremely friendly. Another perk with the location was it's close to some of the best restaurants in Charleston. And also a block or two away from rainbow row in the battery so it's a great place to walk around from. I also loved the coffee shop with free coffee in the mornings. It couldn't have been happier with this hotel and I can't wait to stay there upon my next visit in the fall.

The hotel was beyond our expectations. Rooms were impeccable clean and service from all staff was friendly and overly helpful, reflecting good management. The location was perfect for walking to galleries, restaurants, and sightseeing. The rooftop bar was fun, wished we had more time to checkout the restaurant. The complimentary Starbucks coffee, afternoon wine and evening chocolates, cookies and milk was a nice touch. Loved the art. We will definately choose the Vendue for our next visit.

We spent 3 days in Charleston site seeing and golfing. The Vendue is a perfect location for touring. The Press next door is great for coffee and breakfast. The room was very comfortable and real modern bathroom The staff was really helpful. The art throughout the hotel was really neat.

Charleston is dripping with history and Southern style & charm, and this is the perfect place to enjoy what is distinctive about this old American city. We think of the old South as being about the plantations, but Charleston was settled by the French Huguenots, who were traders and city people. So, a place emerged that was prosperous enough to produce an architecture that reflected the style of the people there, and was unique to the climate of the U.S. South. This hotel is a stylish re-use of an old warehouse a block from the waterfront, and walking distance to everything you'd want to do, see or taste in the Charleston of today. From Edward the bellman who greets you when you arrive (and was most courteous and helpful throughout our stay), to the outstanding Drawing Room restaurant, the hotel is just tops if you think you deserve the best. It bills itself as "Charleston's only art hotel" and indeed, it hosts beautifully curated art shows, and provides studio space for a collectible "resident artist." It is amazing how many art galleries call Charleston home, and what a culinary destination the city has become. This hotel enhanced our Charleston experience, and so did the nighttime milk and cookies in the lobby.
