Everyone was very welcoming from the moment we pulled up to the Vendue starting with bellman Harvey and receptionist Jessica. She worked on getting into a wonderful room early as we arrived before 12n. Each of the facilities is unique and charming in its own way. Everything was very clean and bright. Our room was very well lighted even without a window. The bathroom is set up well and our king sized bed was very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was tasty, water is readily available as are treats and daily drinks. All very nice touches. The hotel location right by the harbor is excellent. Other standout employees were Sarah, Cameron and Steven at Revival restaurant and the rooftop bar, both highly recommended. Would certainly suggest staying at the Vendue while in downtown Charleston.

This hotel could be so lovely but clearly is not being managed or maintained well. The room I stayed in initially looked nice at first but living in the room was not pleasant/comfortable and certainly not worth the high price tag!! The room was poorly designed and maintained e.g. there was almost no water pressure in the bathroom sink, the shower leaked, there were cracks in the bathroom tiles and on the ceiling, and big black marks on the white wall, the shelves in the wardrobes had been positioned so that the hanging space was very short and therefore did not accommodate dresses so I had to climb on the bed to hang them over the top of the tall cupboard doors - which I then couldn't close, obstructing access to the bed. I raised these issues but had to do so a few times as the first person I spoke to had no interest in helping, and the second seemed to care but then didn't follow through/get back to me. Only when I spoke to Virginia was I able to get some assistance. She was excellent and offered to find me a better room for my last night in the hope of improving my stay. The room was fine and certainly better than the first one but it was at the end of a corridor with bubbled carpet that smelled horribly of damp - assume it must have been flooded at some point. The first two rooms she showed me also smelled strongly of damp, so not sure how people can stay in those - perhaps why they were empty? Other than my very positive encounter with Virginia and also Dannielle who was very kind/helpful, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had - which was so disappointing as I had been looking forward to a nice stay in a nice hotel and it certainly was not that!

The Vendue Hotel accommodations and staff were wonderful. It is located in an ideal French Quarter neighborhood. Highly recommended! The rooftop lounge is also a plus.
