Reviews for The Vendue

Probably great unless they hate you and give you the very worst room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

Whatever you do, do not Priceline a 4-star hotel in Charleston because you will risk a terrible experience. They hate Priceline so they will put you in the worst room they have, which is actually across the street at the Enclave. It is damp and moldy enough to make you sick, has no windows, nasty filthy carpet, grubby dirty streaks on the walls, mold growing in the shower. But that isn't the worst thing. The WORST thing is you won't get any sleep because you will be able to hear every single thing that transpires in the hallway and in the rooms on either side of you and on the floor above you.

Great getaway for couples!!

The Vendue is a beautiful older building with eclectic modern art throughout. The location makes it easy to walk to most Charleston sites. The concierge staff was awesome and efficient. My wife and I enjoyed the food offerings at the hotel as well as many in the area.

Hard Times Hotel

Pluses: Pleasant staff, great location. Minuses: Some type of room essential was missing every single day - shower soap and shampoo or towels or condiments for the coffee; the area under the coffee station had not been wiped down, the room temperature ranged from warmish to comfortable but never cool; the toilet area had a faint smell of sewage.

Great place to stay for couples!

My husband planned a birthday trip to Charleston and we stayed at the Vendue Hotel. The hotel was super trendy with this artsy vibe. The lobby had a nice scent. It was fun coming into the lobby checking out new art pieces every time. The rooms were huge and the service was amazing. I like the fireplace in the hotel rooms. It gives it some warmth. Also the bathroom was huge with double shower heads, always a nice treat. Juan was so accommodating and gave us great tips on biking around Charleston (the hotel has free bike rentals). The location was amazing. It was walking distance to the City Market, King Street, the water, and all these amazing restaurants. We were able to really get our steps in but be careful because the cobblestone streets can be trip hazards. There is no gym or pool at the hotel. However, it did not appear on any of the maps haunted hotel lists. Highly recommend staying here!

SOOOO Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

When I walked into our room at the Enclave at the Vendue Hotel in Charleston, I was sure our stay would be as lovely as the room. WRONG! The room phone was never fixed after the front desk was informed of the problem; the large palmetto bug under a towel in the bathroom was removed but no one bothered to clean up the obvious smear left on the floor from when it was killed; the valet service was extremely inconvenient since the link for retrieving your car seemed to communicate with no one; a promised voucher arrived in the mail with an expired expiration date that made it worthless and when this was pointed out, there was no replacement...the list could go on. I advise you not to stay at the Enclave at the Vendue.
