Smart Eclectic Charm Unmatched

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

Our stay at The Nickel has completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away. The design is a masterclass in modern eclectic charm. Every detail feels intentional. The thoughtful mix of natural wood grain, warm suede, rich fabrics, blackened steel, marble, and soft lighting creates a space that feels sophisticated without ever becoming intimidating. It's luxurious, yet warm and inviting. Our second-floor room overlooking King Street is quaint in the very best way—beautifully proportioned and thoughtfully designed with comfort and flow in mind. Every inch serves a purpose, and nothing feels excessive. The hosts have somehow managed to provide every luxury you could want without overwhelming the space. The living area is a perfect retreat, complete with a wet bar and kitchenette for those evenings when staying in sounds just as appealing as exploring Charleston. The thoughtfully stocked snacks and beverages are available whenever the mood strikes. One of my favorite surprises was discovering a whole-bean coffee grinder, premium coffee beans, a pour-over setup, stovetop kettle, and everything needed to enjoy an exceptional cup of coffee at your own pace. The craftsmanship throughout the room deserves recognition. White oak herringbone floors, marble countertops, custom cabinetry, and carefully selected finishes create an atmosphere that feels elevated yet approachable. Luxury here isn't flashy or pretentious—it's quietly confident. The bathroom is a showroom in itself. The pickled white oak vanity, patterned tile, beautiful fixtures, and spa-like atmosphere transform an everyday shower into a relaxing experience. Every detail feels curated. Then there's the bedroom. Behind a striking steel-framed door with reeded glass panels is a peaceful sanctuary that offers just the right amount of privacy while adding another layer of beautiful design. And the bed? Absolutely exceptional. Comfortable, supportive, and exactly what you hope for after a day exploring Charleston. Before heading out for the evening, do yourself a favor: visit the rooftop bar, enjoy a drink and a light bite, then return to your room and soak in the atmosphere. It's an experience in itself. We are genuinely thrilled with our stay so far. It's rare to find a place where every small detail has clearly been considered—from the architecture and interior design to the guest experience. The team behind The Nickel should be incredibly proud of what they've created. Well done, and thank you for making our Charleston weekend so memorable. We can't wait for what's next!

Great Hotel with lots of Attention to Detail

Great little hotel in a great spot. We could walk along Waterfrong Park, down to the Battery, in the historic district and there was plenty of great bars and restarurants in the areas. Some of the best customer service. All the "little additions" really added up; happy hour with a glass of wine, a free art tour, little treats nightly, etc. The addition of The Rooftop was great. It was the perfect bar to grab a pre-dinner drink. And we loved that we had the sister property at Folley Beach.

Wonderful Unique Experience

The artwork and overall ambience of the public area sets The Vendue apart from any other property that we have ever stayed in. Nicholas greeted us and made us feel at home as soon as we entered. The entire staff catered to our every need happily and went above and beyond. The rooftop bar was the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of exploring Charleston.

Delightful Stay at The Vendue

We traveled to Charleston for a night to celebrate my husband’s birthday and booked the Vendue. It was perfect. We had a glass of champagne upon arrival. The walls are lined with cool original art. When we came back from dinner at 167 Raw(highly recommend) there was a birthday card and bottle of champagne for my hubby! So sweet! In the morning there was a bag of goodies at the door- fruit and pastries, making breakfast so easy. Everyone we interacted with at the hotel was so nice. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful art experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Such a great hotel and staff. I’m not sure if it’s part artistic of the design but the floor of the room had a curve and it felt pretty cool… noise passes easily through walls unless they are haunted. They have a great selection of modern artist and offer a free tour at 5pm. Their coffee at the lobby in the morning was pretty good. Thanks for a great experience in a beautiful historical building.
