This is a top notch hotel, where we encountered amazing, professional staff with one exception. Our room was perfect...quiet, clean and comfortable. The 3 restaurants are amazing. Our problem was with the manager Nathan. My wife came down with a stomach bug, so I inquired about checking out 1 day early in our 4 day visit. He said that we would be charged for 1/2 day if we did that....NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! Give me a break! There must be some compassion, even in the corporate world. All else was perfect. This policy ruined it for us.

Loud building with equipment vibrations audible, frayed carpeting, older property rated high on Trip Adviser but not in person. Sold out on dates of my stay, no cancellation with reservation policy so I was stuck with second class accommodations. Good location, good service, great art and food. Lastly, young children everywhere - perfect for families - but uninteresting and disruptive to me.

I've stayed at many hotels in Charleston over the years, now my search has ended. The Vendue is now my home in Charleston. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, we felt pampered and relaxed. The quality of the staff equals or exceeds the quality of the rooms and amenities. The bell staff was exceedingly helpful, as well as the reception. The rooms were unique, luxurious and up to date. Next time you are in Charleston, do yourself a favor and add an extra day just to enjoy the Vendue and all it has to offer.

We stayed at the Vendou in July. I loved this hotel!!!! ( note just fyi...July is a super hot month so if you are not a heat lover re-think your stay dates. ) The hotel staff is about perfection. Can't imagine better. Mark , our morning valet/greeter exemplifies what it means to run a hotel in a proper way to ensure you have a fabulous time. Service and attentiveness to detail is in his wheel house and you couldnt ask for a more dedicated greeter. Beyond that, every employee every day was exceptional from the Concierge to the waitress, bartenders, room management and the art curator. You will not be disappointed.. The staff surpasses many hotels we have stayed in. I highly recommend you take the art tour. Its excellent and the Art curator is very knowledgeable. We liked that the hotel was very close to both the historical sites but also restaurants , shopping and the water front. Its the best place to stay in terms of location. The rooms were of nice size with the amenities of excellent bedding , plush towels and everything you need. We loved the champagne greetings, free wine at 4pm & entertainment in the restaurant. Do book ahead for local restaurants at at least 30 days if you have favorites. The city is very busy and restaurants sell out. Also take advantage of the Concierge. He can plan your walking tours, etc. and book dinner reservations. We ate breakfast all days which was excellent and then dinner one night. The dinner excellent. Do go to the outdoor market. The daytime is different then evening with fun events and is located within walking distance to the hotel. We rented a car from the airport and stopped at the visitor center which i highly recommend. But if your not renting a car there are plenty of choices including a great bicycle taxi for local rides. The rooftop garden at the hotel is excellent. You will love it.

The second you pull up to the curb, you are treated like royalty! We were met by Mark, who took our bags, showed us to the check in, gave us complimentary champagne and took us on a tour of the hotel. The hotel itself is an art Gallery, every nook and cranny is interesting! Our room was very small, but beautifully decorated. The bed was comfy, and the linens both on the bed and in the bath were top notch. It is very obvious how old this building is...(which gives it great character!). I had to laugh when I dropped my mascara while sitting at the desk in the room, and it rolled all the way to the bathroom (the floor was obviously VERY slanted!). Each room had a bottle of Sherry and 2 glasses, and we were told that it would be refilled each day. The restaurant looked beautiful, but was a bit pricey for us we went up to the "Rooftop Bar", which is two stories of seating and 2 bars! We had appetizers and drinks during "happy hour", which were very reasonable. There is a nightly Wine and Appetizer reception, and...Milk and Cookies in the lobby each night!! There is also free coffee each morning in the café. I really dislike Starbucks Coffee (which they serve), so the girl in the café made me a special coffee drink in place of the coffee! My only complaint....that we weren't staying more than one night!
