I attended a week long work event at this hotel and my wife and baby were able to come along with me for a vacation. We loved everything about The Vendue. The fact that they only have 40 rooms in each building, means much larger guest rooms and better personalized attention. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome and taken care of. Nice touches that set them apart from the rest: in-room fireplace, complimentary sherry atop the mantle, plush robes, spacious bathroom with glass enclosed shower and separate clawfooted tub, chocolates on pillow at turndown, and milk & cookies every night in the lobby. We also loved the artwork that adorned all walls of the hotel. Really so beautiful. The view of the city from the rooftop lounge is spectacular! Would not hesitate to book them again when we come back to Charleston.

I ordered a martini with olives. I got a martini with a twist and I do not know what they did to it but it was awful. I did not send it back. The second martini, I ordered Greygoose. It was not NOT Greygoose. I can tell. We had guacamole which was not good.

This hotel was recommended by friends and was fairly pricey, so we had pretty high expectations. When we arrived we were told our room was ready but then minutes later told it was not ready. And the woman at the desk was not especially friendly. We were underwhelmed with our room. The room was clean but nothing special. The biggest issue we had was sleep quality. We were on the 3rd floor and it was very noisy. We were woken very early the first morning (a Saturday) by a cleaning crew on the floor above us, which is the hotel’s rooftop bar. They were obviously moving furniture around to clean and we could hear everything. The second night of our stay we had a significant amount of noise in our hallway from other guests. We were also disappointed that the hotel did not offer room service breakfast—a treat we look forward to when we’re on a getaway. They offered room service but just lunch and dinner. We thought this was odd. We’ve stayed at much nicer hotels in Charleston. Sorry to say, this one gets crossed off our list for future visits.

The Vendue is absolutely gorgeous, inside and out. We arrived in the rain, and were treated like royalty. We were served goblets of champagne at check-in. After checking in, we enjoyed complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres in the lobby while listening to a jazz guitarist. The valet parked our car and carried our luggage to our room while we relaxed. Every where we went in the hotel, we were assisted by an attendant. We also enjoyed the fabulous roof top bar. When we checked out, the valet retrieved our car and loaded our luggage into our car. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. I have never been so pampered. I did not want to leave!

Everything about the hotel excelled (even though their new restaurant isn't completed yet) but so friendly, hospitable, great rooms, and fantastic art throughout the hotel. The music in their bar is practically non-stop, and their daily free happy hour from 4-5 is very appreciated.
