The vineyards are gorgeous and little villages nearby delightful. The villa and grounds are unique and beautiful, but as others mentioned most were off limits due to a large party having reserved the main villa. Food in the restaurant was delicious but seemed over priced to us. When the staff got busy with a large party our party of two was ignored. The hotel related services were good when requested, but not initiated without request. Nobody told us breakfast was included and our complimentary bottle of wine was forgotten until we asked for it. The room was nice, large, with comfy bed, and lovely views. Loved the big comfy robes!

We had a lovely stay in Villa Mangiacane for 4 nights as a short break after our wedding. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was great, very spacious with a large comfy bed and good quality hot shower - no complaints at all. The grounds are truly beautiful. We were able to walk around the whole grounds - vineyards, olive groves and Villa Machiavelli, which is absolutely amazing with the view of Florence from the upper terrace. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection included as a 'continental' breakfast and we ate in the restaurant one evening - the food was delicious but it lacked atmosphere as there was only one other table of diners, but the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing dishes and with wine pairings. It would have been nice to have been made aware of the spa facilities on the first day, even if these weren't available because the Villa Machiavelli was hired out. Superb location close to Florence and other beautiful Tuscan towns/villages, but a car is required. This is a very good 4* hotel...there are little things that would make the difference though, such as complimentary bottled water in the room each morning for example.

We enjoyed the typical Tuscan atmosphere of this hotel, its comfort, gastronomy, service and location. Very spacious and comfortable room. Elegant reception area with a cosy sitting area. Pleasant restaurant, excellent food and wines and friendly service. Pleasant outdoor sitting possibilities with views over the countryside. Great location to explore the northern Chianti region and only 18 km to Florence (no shuttle available). Some negative points : 6 light bulbs not working in the room when we arrived... and be sure to travel with some basic bathroom amenities (cotton pads, Qtips) and above all a box of Kleenex as there none in the hotel ! During our stay the main building of the hotel was privatized; we asked to have a quick look as we are researching a destination in 2018 to bring a party of 20 friends; no way, even escorted by a member of the staff. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay and can recommend this property
