Located in Forestville, a tiny hamlet cradled in the Russian River Valley region of Sonoma County, is a romantic retreat for oenophiles who enjoy the riches that only California's wine country can offer. Erected in 1873, Farmhouse Inn has been completely restored to its 19th-century splendor and is a classic American farmhouse with a mélange of Victorian touches and provincial furnishings. With just 25 pristine rooms, guests slumber in an enchanting cottage or traditional guest room, where plump feather beds, oversize soaking tubs, fireplaces and other luxurious amenities await.

Several types of rooms, which is normal. However, the smaller rooms are quite old and outdated. The newer larger rooms are a completely different experience. Most of the details are there, but some don't make sense. Landscaping is excellent. TV, phones, and alarm clock are 20 years old and not on level of the hotel's price point. Would expect a newer TV (even if small), a farmhouse phone vs the motel one they used, and a wireless speaker (BOSE of JBL). You are usually going there to relax and connect with someone. The lack of a decent sound option is outdated. They also shoved two chairs under the TV which serve no purpose and take up space. Older bathroom with combination shower/bathtub. Ceiling was low in the shower and I had to duck my head. Bath amenities were fine. Newer rooms were very close to being great. Nice millwork and some details, but still missed on music component and alarm clock. Also the stones on the fireplace did not match up and look like they were purchased at Home Depot and self installed. Not what you expect at $1,500 a night one bedroom suite.

We went there to relax and just take it easy. This place is always amazing and the food is fabulous. The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to make your stay unforgetable . The rooms are spectacular.

This is a fantastic property that has been a B&B for many years but has been freshly remodeled into an extremely elegant property. The high points are a truly terrific onsite restaurant (worth a trip on it's own.) Spa and other amentites are on the grounds and everything has that first-class feel. The downside? While the location is extremely convenient to explore the surrounding wine country, the site itself is not too special located on busy (high traffic) River Road. That said, a two-minute walk and you are out in the country among the vineyards. This is the most luxurious full service boutique hotel in the area, but if you want to compare with something that has a better (quieter, more charm) location but less hipness to the amenities look at the nearby Raford Inn.

Right off River Road, in the Russian River Valley, is a wonderful and welcoming place to stay. The Farmhouse is a charming series of buildings, with a Michelin starred restaurant at the front of the property and further back, lovely gardens with lodging buildings, a spa and a swimming pool scattered around the property. Our room had many amenities including a fireplace usable from inside and an outside sitting area, a soaking tub in the generously sized bathroom, heated floors and beautiful decor. There are snacks provided in your room, to enjoy with wine. All around, I can't say enough about this hotel. The restaurant served us a delicious dinner and breakfast is not to be missed with a chef special each morning. The welcoming staff led by Theresa is another benefit. I hope you have a chance to check out the Farmhouse in your travels.

After a bit of a rough start (which I won't get into here because they made up for it), the Farmhouse Inn gave us an very enjoyable experience for our two night stay and we'll have good memories of our stay for a long time. What's unique was the king deluxe room we were upgraded to, in the back barn, on the second floor, very private, and in the forest with a running stream below that you can hear from the deck with an outdoor fireplace(sort of like hearing the ocean). There is a very overall unique and special feeling to this room that made our stay. The room itself very well appointed with all the modern amenities like steam shower, heated bathroom floor, jettub, but its more about the forest feel of the room. So we thank the staff for taking care of us. The restaurant was excellent as expected, wait staff and sommelier very nice but not overbearing, and we enjoyed the wine pairings. Finally, the wine tastings on the property were great! Each day at 4:30 a local winery came in with wine and small bites. It was an opportunity to meet other guests from all over the country and world, have good conversation before going back to the quiet comfort of your room. Checked the outdoor pool and hottub while my wife had a massage at the spa everything is very close and easy access.
