Farmhouse Inn in Forestville, California

Located in Forestville, a tiny hamlet cradled in the Russian River Valley region of Sonoma County, is a romantic retreat for oenophiles who enjoy the riches that only California's wine country can offer. Erected in 1873, Farmhouse Inn has been completely restored to its 19th-century splendor and is a classic American farmhouse with a mélange of Victorian touches and provincial furnishings. With just 25 pristine rooms, guests slumber in an enchanting cottage or traditional guest room, where plump feather beds, oversize soaking tubs, fireplaces and other luxurious amenities await.

Wake up to a savory two-course morning meal including an array of baked goods, seasonal fruits, robust coffee and a hot made-to-order entrée. In the evening, reserve a corner table at the inn's Michelin-starred restaurant for an elegant meal paired with local vintages by Sonoma County's only Master Sommelier. The spa at Farmhouse Inn is one of intimate surroundings, where personalized service is paramount, treatments are sublime and organic products are handmade. The grounds sit on the edge of a wooded area punctuated with trickling fountains, and are equally delightful. In the distance, vineyards dot the landscape and ripened grapes dangle from neatly lined rows of mature vines. Enjoy a dip in the pool or lounge in the warm Sonoma sun. In the afternoon hit the wine trail in search of the perfect selection, visit the region's charming town squares, or simply take a scenic drive overlooking the rugged Pacific coast. Flee to Farmhouse Inn for a bit of relaxation and put everyday life on hold.

We recently stayed at Farmhouse Inn. We absolutely adored it. It's an incredibly charming property. It screams "country home", yet is very stylish and modern at the same time. Regarding the rooms, it's hit and miss, so you need to carefully do your research before committing to staying here. First off, it's right along the main road, so if you have a room near the parking lot you may get some noise. Also, quite a few of the rooms (balcony or patio or windows) face the walkways - I don't think they're particularly private. Not to mention, many of them are on the small side. The rooms to get are the new ones at the back of the property. Formerly referred to as "Barn rooms", they're now either King Deluxe or King Luxury Suite rooms. They're similar, although the latter is slightly larger and have a separate living room. The 8 rooms in the back (the "barn") are not only the best, but they're the most secluded and private. The patio (or balcony in the case of 2F rooms) face the forest, and it's at the end of the walkway so you'll rarely have anyone passing by the area. We had dinner in their restaurant one evening, and I can definitely say their Michelin star is well deserved.

Farmhouse Inn was our retreat for a week of touring the wine regions of Napa, Sonoma and beyond. Farmhouse has amazing accommodations, a restaurant that serves delicious breakfasts and dinners, and a location that is perfect for a trip to California’s wine country. The staff at Farmhouse couldn’t be nicer, and the surroundings are beautiful and tranquil. We’ll be back!

Farmhouse Inn exceeded our expectations! Attention to detail in the rooms was fabulous, from the heated floors, two way fireplace, private deck and so much more. We enjoyed several wine tastings on the patio in the late afternoon. All staff were very helpful and kind....shout out to Alex, Matt & Thomas. We can not wait to come back.

My friend and I stayed here at the Inn for 7 nights. From start to finish the stay was above expectation and offered a level of service that is sorely missing in today's hospitality world. The food was excellent, with a good selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Our room was a king sized bed with a sofa bed and it suited two girlfriends travelling together. My friend said the sofa bed was very comfy but would shy away from the suggestion of a spring fold out bed which was offered. Our treatments at the Spa were also heavenly. All in all, a wonderful, lovely stay and we'll be back for our next adventure soon. Thank you Farmhouse Inn for such a luxurious stay.

We had a lovely weekend staying at the Farmhouse Inn. Our room had a fireplace that had a view though the fire and into the woods. The room also had a porch and a luxury bathroom with a big tub and shower with a steam function. The front desk has handmade soaps and bath salts to really enjoy a good soak. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and really wants to make your stay special. There are a couple of cats that live on the property - and will come into your room if you invite them - a plus for us cat lovers.
