Old Edwards Inn was a delightful place to stay. Our stay was in a Falls Cottage King room, a separate small cabin on the property. You really need a map of the property to figure out where the various parts of the Inn are located, as it looks like the Inn has gradually taken over several blocks of the town. But, that somewhat random positioning of rooms and facilities across several blocks of real estate adds to the charm. You cannot really tell you are at a boutique resort until you actually explore. The buildings that are truly old and historic are elegant and charming. The newer construction is made to look old and established (like the Falls Cottage cabins), but you have the benefits of modern construction, wonderful bathrooms, high quality bathroom hardware, heated bathroom tile floor, etc. There are 2 outdoor pools that I know of on the property. We used the pool which was closest to the Falls Cottage area, and it was wonderful, heated nicely (not too cold), and the hot tub was also great in that area. Our activities consisted of (1) hiking and waterfall viewing (multiple waterfalls within 15 minutes or less of the town, and this was April so the waterfalls were really raging), (2) shopping (of which there is an outsized opportunity given the small size of the town, reflecting, I believe, the wealth in the area driven by tourism), and (3) eating. There are great restaurants, including Madison’s right at Old Edwards Inn, and Paoletti right across Main Street from the old historic portion of the hotel. There is also a wonderful spa (I am told), although we did not use that while we were there. Any Relais & Chateaux property will not be available to you at bargain basement rates, but I think this property is actually a fairly good value in the R&C universe for the high quality and charm of the place. Very relaxing. We hope to come back.

Wow did we pick the right place. Room was beautiful, staff was gracious and the setting was perfect. We were right down town so we took advantage of the shopping and believe it or not found people we knew. We bought some great things and packed the back of the car. We were lucky that some Morgan friends were in the area and we called them to have dinner with us. They are great mountain people and love the Highlands. Our diner at the Inn was started off by a wonderful greeting and by a waiter knew his job. Than we were blown apart by the most magnificent wine expert that we have ever run in to in many a year. This Somolia made our evening and our meal. With each item we ordered he helped us pair the appropriate wine. Everything about the experience was first rate. We will be back again.

We stayed at the Old Edwards in for 3 nights during a girls trip. It was fabulous and I highly recommend it! We stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage. We loved it so much that we plan to make this an annual event. Do not miss the spa - this was one of the highlights of the trip, along with the hiking and all of the great restaurants in town. Make sure to go to dinner at Wild Thyme.

I stayed here recently with my husband and I couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough! The setting is beautiful and the staff are more than helpful and friendly in every way. We had a day at the Spa too which was second to none from start to finish. Our room was based in the Spa building which was great as we had access to the fabulous spa amenities all of the time! We will definitely be visiting again!
