I remember when the Old Edwards Inn was a little sleepy village hotel...they underwent a huge renovation a few years ago and now the place spans 3 blocks and is nothing short of incredible. The restaurant is 5 star, the Hummingbird Lounge is reminiscent of an old-school smoking lounge (without the smoking) with dark wood, comfortable couches, and first class service (try the Moscow Mule made with ginger beer made on premises). The rooms are incredible; ours was a two bedroom cottage near both pools, the spa and the gameroom. The bathroom floors were heated! Our only suggestion would be to put a door between the bedroom and the privacy there! :-) This rapidly became one of our favorite hotels in the world, and we've stayed in quite a few. Nestled in downtown Highlands, you're within walking distance of all of Main Street and driving distance to Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, the Cowee Gap, and the Nantahala National Forest. TRY THIS HOTEL!

We loved every minute of our stay at this Inn. The room was so pretty and big and the property itself was charming. There was also so much to do - we could have easily stayed a week! Everyone was so helpful and friendly - from the front desk staff to the gym personnel.

If you want an over the top wedding reception, this is the place to go. The building has sides that can stay up or go down. There were 200 people there and plenty of room. A few items on the menu: fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, shrimp & andouille sausage over grits, bacon wrapped quail and beef tenderloin. Every item was excellent.

Our first stay at Old Edwards Inn was memorable. We stayed in the Lodge Cottages and they were very nice. Appeared to be freshly painted and very clean. Nice sitting areas and comfortable furnishings. The staff treated us with great courtesy and were responsive to our requests. The pool area is very inviting. Most notably, the landscaping on the whole campus was essentially perfect. This is a place we could visit again and again. Easy to see why it is rated so highly in national and international reviews.

My husband and I booked a little romantic getaway in the mountains of NC to get away from the oppressive heat that we were having in the upstate of SC in July. Old Edwards Inn and Spa was recommended to me by a friend that had been there, and I so glad that she did! Although more expensive than we usually book, it was worth every penny! This is a large property right on Main Street in Highlands, NC. It is comprised of three different sections, and we stayed in a room in the Lodge section. Everything about this property is wonderful, including our accommodations, the grounds, and the impeccable service! There are two swimming pools available with poolside service. A top notch restaurant, Madison's, is on Main Street beside the Historic Inn, but make reservations early if you plan on eating there for dinner! There is also the Wine Garden, an outdoor restaurant. One of the things we loved most about our time at Old Edwards Inn and Spa was that we could walk anywhere that we wanted to go! Main Street in Highlands has many charming shops if shopping is your thing. Next time we go we may choose to get in our car and see some of the waterfalls, etc. in the area, but this time we were content to just chill out and relax!
