Stonover Farm is a delight!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My daughter and I spent a relaxing weekend at the warm and welcoming Stonover Farm in Lenox MA, after a tough week of East Coast college tours. Stonover Farm consists of a charming main home plus two additional out-buildings (the Rock Cottage and the School House), set in beautiful grounds with a sweet pond full of ducks. The public rooms are well-lit with lots of comfy seating where you can curl up with a book pulled from one of the many bookcases and an eclectic art collection that drew me from one room to the next. We stayed in Suite 3 which has a lovely sitting room, a well-appointed bathroom (shower only), and a comfortable king bed with luxurious Frette linens. My only complaint was that the pillows were over-stuffed for my taste; one word to the innkeeper and I was provided a replacement. Breakfast is classic B&B style, prepared to order (on a vintage AGA stove!) and eaten at a communal table overlooking the duckpond. I started with a yogurt-granola-berry parfait then requested an omelet with mushrooms & onions & goat cheese. My daughter picked French toast for her breakfast. A great start to a chilly winter-in-springtime day exploring the Berkshires. Stonover Farm is a true delight – whether you visit in summer for Tanglewood (just a stroll down Under Mountain Road) or in autumn to see the changing leaves or simply for the joy of it.

The Most Charming B&B Yet

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Oh my goodness, this place is HEAVEN. Tucked in the woods of Lenox, not far from the interstate, this B&B is so incredibly charming, we didn't want to leave! We went in March, and even though it was overcast and the trees hadn't yet started to bloom, the buildings stand out beautifully – an inviting beacon of warmth. The first thing we were struck with upon entering was the design – impeccable in every way. The soft blues and wood tones; the fireplaces and mix of tasteful new & vintage furnishings place this B&B leagues ahead of the many others that we've visited in the Berkshires. The rooms were perfectly appointed, and the bathrooms shockingly modern and large. They really have phenomenal taste! And finally, the host, Randy, was affable, attentive and a really great breakfast chef! My family and I could not have been happier or more comfortable here. Will DEFINITELY be coming back soon. Thank you, Stoneover!

Charming with sad breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Incredibly charming place. Beautiful property; gorgeous common spaces and well appointed rooms with nice bathrooms and toiletries. Christine the manager was wonderful. But huge, huge miss on the breakfast. It was PALTRY; saddest breakfast plate I’ve ever seen; 4 pieces of mushroom, horribly cooked eggs; nothing else, not even a twig for decor; no potatoes; no specials. Breakfast is 8:30-9:45am at a common table. So bad we decided to skip the second day and went to Haven instead. We’ve stayed at Garden Gables and property isn’t as charming but breakfast is phenomenal. At times, we also felt as if we were intruding on the owners home, even though it was the Inn. They were having personal guests and seemed annoyed with us being around, and frankly unwelcoming; happened twice when we came in after a walk and then after dinner out. Their own dinner party also ran late (11pm) and was loud. They should have closed the Inn if they didn’t want to care for guests that weekend. Or at least try to be a little more welcoming in front of their friends. Husband was nice the next morning once their friends were gone. They do have a wonderful little open bar. They only have 5 rooms, and it’s close to Tanglewood. Good value for money if you don’t expect a decent breakfast or welcoming owners, but a wonderful manager. Room was large and nice. Toss up on returning. Maybe if breakfast would improve. But try it at least once if you’re in the area and do check their website for things to do in the area - very helpful. Highly recommend The Clark institute.

Perfect retreat in the country

Perfect weekend getaway spot- beautiful decor, friendly hosts, so relaxing. The school house is a short walk from the main house with the breakfast and library but super private and comfortable. Breakfast was a nice touch as well. Worth the splurge.

Beautiful Inn

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

The photo on TripAdvisor is not updated for the renovated Stonover Inn. The property is so special. Every last detail is well thought out…the furniture, the paint colors and wall paper and the art. I had a bad case of house envy. We stayed in Suite 3 for two nights…king suite that was roomy and comfortable. Randy, the owner, greeted us upon check in and showed us around. Randy also cooked made to order breakfast in the a.m. Christine, the manager was there each morning and both Randy and Christine were informative and offered great advice for hikes, shops and restaurants. It was a wonderful few days in a very special place. Highly recommend.
