Not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 22 hours ago

My mom and I recently stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. I have to say that for the price paid (nearly $400 for the offseason) the hotel is tired and dated. The tub in the bathroom had hair in it upon arriving to the room. Additionally, the AC unit was turned off for the season (May) so the room was incredibly stuffy. Despite us asking the staff to check on the AC, we heard from no one to fix the AC. Had it been a warm/hot weekend, we would’ve been miserable in the room. There’s absolutely no soundproofing in the room so you hear every hallway conversation and every door shut. Again, for the price paid we were surprised to see there was no coffee maker in the room. The staff was just so-so. They weren’t overly friendly and seemed bothered by interacting with guests (except for the bellman who was lovely). Was also very concerned about the safety (or lack there of). The back door of the hotel was open at all hours and required no key card to open it. Highly concerning given the size of this property. While I know they’re basically charging for the “charm” of the hotel, we were Overall really disappointed in the price paid and the quality and experience received.

Run Down

I hope the new ownership Brookfield will seriously consider putting some much needed money into this hotel - the grounds are a mess with old poorly maintained plant material and non defined beds - The floors are worn and there were boxes piled every where - I remember this hotels hay day and it just tired looking -

It was a wonderful little getaway, even for business.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I visited during a business trip in mid April. I'm not a huge "traveler" so it was a treat for me to just "get away" even if it was for business. The staff I encountered were friendly, the room was nice and the bed/pillows were amazing. It's a beautiful property but a little challenging to navigate at first. I joked with the front desk when I was checking out if the $150.00 comp fee be applied toward the mattress and a pillow. The restaurant was closed the evening we arrived so we walked down the road to the Silver Fork. The food was good, breakfast and lunch were provided on the day I was attending. I do not know the name of the gentleman who helped me but he was from the front desk and it was his first day back after an extended leave. Upon arrival, I had worked all day and driven 1.5 hours so I was tired and got a little turned around. He gladly helped me find my way and get settled in.

No advanced planning on mgmt part to meet customers expectations.

Day prior to eclipse, waited 1.5 hrs to check in with only one person manning front desk. Restaurant minimally staffed and food choices limited due to the lack of planning. You would think they would have planned in advance for the amount of patrons with reservations. Shameful management performance.

Frustrating (and unresolved) reservation experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The room was clean and comfortable with a fabulous view (mountain view two queen). The bar experience was interesting because while the service was fabulous, the young man behind the bar on March 16th was incredible, it wasn't stocked, it seemed like they were out of more things than they had. At one point there were several managers standing around while he was busting his butt to find things he didn't have. I felt bad every time he came back to tell us he was out of something else, it was clearly out of his control. The outdoor terrace was fun and nice to be outside on an unseasonably warm march day but we had to ask several times to light the fire pit and when someone tried, it smelled of propane for 15 minutes or so before someone figured it out and actually got them lit. Our spa treatments were fab although expensive. The hot tub was leaning toward warm rather than hot but it was okay. The steam room and the sauna were both out of commission which was disappointing. Normally, I would have given this three bubbles - I'm giving it 1 because I had originally booked this for April but they couldn't confirm spa treatments that far in advance and that was the whole purpose of our trip so I called back to move it to an earlier date. Just today I got an email confirming my upcoming reservation. When I called to say, we already stayed, this reservation shouldn't be active - someone not at the hotel kept me on hold for over 20 minutes only to tell me I missed the cxl window and I'll have to pay. Seriously? She said she would submit a customer service request for me and I can wait for 48 hours for an email after which she said she was looking forward to welcoming me to Equinox. Talk about disingenuous service. Additionally, when booking originally we booked a guaranteed connecting room for a small upgrade cost, but to do so you had to book both rooms at full rate and then they would "refund you later" - clunky at best. I feel the need to comb my credit card statement and find out how much they've charged me so far.

Our visit was very enjoyable and we used the pool and was impressed with how well run the spa was and how everything was taken care of for you. It was truly a very pleasant experience and I hope we will be able to take advantage of staying at the Equinox again. Thank you.

As usual, we had a great trip, and enjoyed our stay very much. Many Equinox employees are exemplary. These people are perhaps a big reason why the experience is always great. Thanks again for running an overall fantastic hotel, perhaps our favorite in the world, and we travel quite a bit.
