Situated along California's rocky Mendocino Coast, a windswept destination located three hours north of San Francisco, is the charming Glendeven Inn Mendocino. This luxury ocean view farmstead, in all its gabled glory, is a delightful destination located in the hamlet of Little River. Rooms in the main house are inviting with antique beds, beamed ceilings and wondrous views. A separate board and batten annex known as Stevenscroft contains a quartet of spacious suites warmed by romantic fireplaces coupled with ocean views. The Carriage House contains a single Grand Suite, with a spacious 750-square-foot floor plan replete with roomy sleigh bed, a pair of fireplaces, private balcony and bathroom with a double-headed shower for tandem bathing.

Booked a Deluxe Ocean View King Suite over Thanksgiving, paying about $1,200 total for two nights. While the front desk staff were genuinely kind and professional, the stay itself didn’t match the experience suggested by the website or the room category. 1. “Ocean View” that’s almost impossible to see. The room assigned was on the first floor, facing a llama farm with trees blocking nearly the entire ocean. In the photo attached, the tiny red-circled area is the only sliver of ocean visible — far from what “Deluxe Ocean View” implies. 2. Great staff, but the product didn’t match the promise. The front desk handled my questions politely and acknowledged that the room didn’t meet the ocean-view expectation. However, the resolution offered was minimal and didn’t quite reflect the gap between what was advertised and what was delivered. 3. Noise from every direction. The room is next to the road (traffic noise all day and night), right beside the shared kitchen (clattering from early morning), and has no soundproofing — footsteps and movement from the room above were loud and constant. 4. Pricing positioned as luxury, but the reality felt far more basic. The website markets a rustic-luxury experience, but the actual condition of the room felt dated and more in line with a standard 2-star stay. At the premium holiday rate, the overall value simply wasn’t there. The staff were lovely, but the mismatch between the marketing, the room category, and the actual experience was hard to overlook.

Good location. Nice , clean , quiet place to stay. The stay was comfortable. Breakfast can have little bit more. Overall excellent place to stay.

We had such a great stay at SCP Inn and Farm for our anniversary weekend. When we arrived, we even had our own designated parking spot with a welcome sign with my name on it, which was such a sweet surprise. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. They offer fresh-baked cookies at the front counter (which were delicious), and our room was clean, comfortable, and really cozy. We loved exploring around the property. There are chickens, llamas, and a cute organic garden. In the lobby, they also offer complimentary lavender to take and little seeds so you can feed the chickens, which was a fun touch. Overall, it was a wonderful getaway and we’re really happy with our experience there!

No vending machines, directed to go to a market in another town. No screens on multiple windows. Internet went down one evening and did not return before departure, no cell service to fall back on. Restaurant equipment sent vibration through headboard for hours. Egg-focused breakfasts were disappointing. Won't be returning.

The service was good and the room was comfortable but for the price we expected more upscale toiletries and thought we’d have a kettle, a mini fridge and a microwave in the room, instead of having to go to a kitchenette. (We booked a king suite). The shampoo there completely dried out our hair. It’s been weeks and my hair still feels like straw no matter what treatments I use. I even went to the salon to try and fix it. The shampoo turned my highlights and mom’s highlights really light and brassy. I’ve never encountered this issue before. The highlights of our stay were the three lamas and the chickens and also the free lavender pouches and chicken feed provided at the office. There’s also a forest trail. Some parts of the property could use some repair and updating. They seemed a bit rundown perhaps because of the damp.

This place was just what I needed! It was my first time to Mendocino and I so happy to have found Glendeven. How great it was not to hear cell phones and TV noise. We enjoyed our walks to the coast and seeing the birds, rabbits and deer. I hope to be back many times in my life. What a treat it is for body, mind and soul.
