This was our fourth visit to 1801 First. We just love the friendly staff and the wonderful accommodations. The breakfasts are always delicious with fresh homemade pastries as well as a hot home cooked breakfast with 3 choices each day. There are always fresh cookies and tea and coffee in the dining area as well. They also offer a happy hour with good wines and delicious appetizers. This year we left the morning before the fires started. We are so glad that this lovely family survived and that their home as well as their B and B was spared. You won't go wrong in selecting this venue for your next Napa visit!

We stayed at the Inn, as it turns out at the start of the Atlas fire. Our first afternoon was very nice and our room was large and comfortable. The owner Carrie checked us in and gave us the tour etc. We had an early wine happy hour to accommodate our dinner reservation in Yountville for that evening. The wine flowed and the finger food was excellent. The next morning we woke up to the fire engines and smoke in the air. The staff was there and attended to all our needs like nothing was happening. The owners had to evacuate from the home during the night because the fire was raging toward them. Vineyards were all closed because the power was out, outside down town Napa. All the guests gathered on the parlor late in the afternoon for another impromptu happy wine our and it was a great time. We actually all went to dinner together that night at one of the few restaurants open. My point in all this is, that 1801 never faulted and were gracious when we left two days early and refunded us for the night's we already payed for. I was very glad to find out when I called two days later to check on them, that their house was spared and hopefully they would be home in a few days. I would certainly recommend 1801 for anyone visiting the area.

Although this review is a year overdue, 1801 First continues to bring to mind fond memories, and no other B&B we've stayed at anywhere compares to date! We will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Location - We were skeptical about staying in the town of Napa rather than somewhere amid fields of grapes in the Valley, but we absolutely made the right choice for multiple reasons....1801 First is an easy walk into town, whether you are an early riser and want to walk down to enjoy sunrise views of hot air balloons from the bridge, or if you are a night owl - the town offers so many shopping, wine bar, and dining options, so there is something for everyone. The location is also easy to find and a great central point for the other towns in the Valley - we had a rental car, so on non-wine drinking days where we had a driver, it was easy for us to head out to Muir Woods for a day of hiking or to Yountville for quaint shopping and Michelin starred restaurants. Reflecting on our stay, I can never imagine staying anywhere else in or around Napa. Rooms - We stayed in the beautiful carriage house, and our other family members stayed in the main house - both rooms were fantastic - clean and fresh, and felt like home to all 4 of us. We really loved the privacy of the carriage house. Breakfast - Nothing short of fantastic - we loved being able to choose our meal the day before, and the 4 of us looked forward to sitting down with each other every morning to talk about our plan for the day to come and reflect on the day/night before. The ingredients are so fresh and delicious, and the meal is hearty to get you ready for long days of wine tasting! I still dream about the homemade muffins. Wine Hour - We were able to enjoy a couple of these and really enjoyed them, whether we were sipping different wines & cheeses with the owners & other guests, or we were enjoying a tasting from an outside winery. A really nice touch!! Concierge - Cannot say enough great things about the owners and staff here - without them, we were swimming in too many choices of wineries for tastings as we continued to fret while planning our Napa trip, so they swooped in to save the day for us. Every recommendation they made was exactly right for us and the types of travelers we are. They really listened and, as a result, we had the most amazing week. Thank you to everyone - we cannot wait to return!

We could not have chosen a more perfect Inn to stay at than 1801 First in Napa. Their location is fabulous-walking distance to eating and shopping. The accommodations were so comfortable, clean and private -we stayed in the Carriage house. The owner Carrie and her staff were very gracious hosts and could not do enough to make us feel at home. They were very informative and helpful in planning our days to get the most out of Napa. Breakfast every morning was creative and delicious. Hats off to the chef! His daily cookie selection was a real treat. Daily happy hour in the garden gave us the opportunity to meet other guests and talk to the staff and Carrie. Overall, our stay at 1801 First far exceeded our expectations and we would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
