My husband and I stayed here in the Garden Cottage and I can definitely this is the best B&B experience I have ever had! The place is beautiful (very well-maintained) and the owners and caretakers were so warm and friendly. We really felt so at home here. The breakfast was DELICIOUS and the coffee was excellent. The daily happy hour spreads were also a very nice touch. One of the best parts about this B&B (besides everything mentioned above) is its proximity to Napa center. After a long day of wine tastings, we knew we would not want to get in a car and drive anywhere, so being able to walk into town to grab dinner was perfect. I honestly can't imagine a better B&B experience. Thank you so much Blair, Carrie, Laura, Jim, and Shirlee!!!! We will definitely come back! :-)

Exceptional service in a comfortable downtown location. Special care is provided to ensure each guest has a pleasurable experience in Napa. The breakfasts are very nice and tasty, the rooms plush and large... complimentary wine tastings, truffles and cookies as a welcome... a staff that keeps a great conversation and a relaxed atmosphere... how can this place get any better?

My husband and I just returned from a delightful stay at 1801 First -- and we cannot say enough wonderful things about this charming B&B! The only thing we would have changed about our trip would be to have stayed longer!! The owners and staff (Blair, Carrie, Laura and Shirley) were all incredibly welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make our visit perfect. We were greeted with wine and homemade cookies and truffles. Each night, they host a lovely wine hour (complete with delicious appetizers/snacks) -- on Fridays, they bring in one of the local wineries to do a guided tasting. We were fortunate to be there for a Friday night visit from Saintsbury, a terrific winery from the nearby Carneros region. We stayed upstairs in the main house in Suite 4 - which comes complete with a very comfortable king bed, a fireplace, a cozy window seat for reading/relaxing, and a huge bathroom featuring an enormous soaker tub and a chaise lounge. Breakfast was delicious every morning -- fresh fruit, homemade pastries, and several choices of main dishes. We had to leave very early one morning to run a race, and they stocked us up ahead of time with a power breakfast of yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and cliff bars. There is always coffee, tea, cookies and port for the guests throughout the day. The inn is beautifully maintained and in a great location -- easy walking distance to many restaurants, shops and the river. We would love to come back for another visit soon! If you are looking for a wonderful bed & breakfast in Napa, 1801 First is the perfect place to stay!!

This is a really great place to stay - the standard of accommodation is superb. The rooms are unbelievably clean and we had 2 great nights sleep. The breakfast was excellent with the ability to choose from a menu the night before. Free tea and coffee available all day. We loved meeting fellow guests at 5 for wine tasting and nibbles - this happens in a quiet and relaxing courtyard at the rear of the hotel. Parking is easy and it is a 10 minute walk to the centre of town which has great restaurants. Also, i loved the follow up I received from the team at Napa - it was personalised and obviously they had listened to what we did during our 2 day stay. Attention to detail which you dont get at many placed - thoroughly recommend to stay here!

What do you do when you like something? You go back for more. My wife and I are reasonably well traveled and have visited many hotels and inns over the years. I have always said that its the details that make a place special. Are they obsessive about being clean? do they take care of their fixtures? Do they understand the meaning of the word hospitality? and do they know how to create a nice vibe for those visiting. We have visited 1801 several times in the last year as we have become regular visitors to Napa Valley ( yes the wine is pretty good up there. We cant stay away). We did some inn shopping on our first few visits and eventually tried 1801. We have stayed with them on each visit since we found them. The inn is nice, stylish and fun. Its professional but personal, very nice but not stuffy and the innkeepers are super helpful. I love the port thats waiting in the great room each night, the cookies in the dining room each day are hard to stay away from and the nightly wine hours are something I always look forward to. Breakfast is always a treat and the staff and owners are always on hand to help in any way they can. The photos on their website are an accurate representation of the property. You can trust them. My advice is to look at them and also look at the reviews here on trip advisor. You will get a pretty good picture of what your experience will be like. 1801 is near downtown Napa. Thats great for an evening out or a stroll up the street to the local gym. if you like music, we love the Blue Note that recently opened and its very nearby. Also we are obsessive about a noddle house just around the corner! Beyond that if your looking for wine adventure talk to the staff. They can steer you in the right direction. I give 1801 marks! Happy travels! Jeff
