This review is long overdue. My husband and I visited 1801 for 3 nights mid week in January, for an early 16th anniversary getaway. Since we were the only guests at the inn for the first two nights (Tues/Wed), wine and appetizers were left waiting in our room for us. Our room was beautiful (a Junior Suite on the 2nd floor of the main house), with an easy to use fireplace, plush robes, huge bath, and a TV and DVD player with movies to pick from in the lobby. Each evening, a menu was left on on door, and we each were able to select from 3 breakfast options and times. It was hard to choose! Each morning, the breakfast was wonderful. It always started with fresh baking and some fruit in some kind of glaze (a new flavor each day, and all were so good!). This was followed by our chosen main course. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. Our morning hostess, Shirlee, was also a delight to chat with, and delivered wonderful service. When we mentioned going to see a matinee nearby, she slipped some homemade cookies into a ziploc for us, for a theater snack. :) On our last evening, Carrie, the owner, was there. It was lovely to meet her. She personally delivered wine and appetizers to us in the main living room area, and joined us to chat. We had a wonderful conversation, and it was clear just how much she cares to provide the very best service to each and every guest. 1801 is also a great location... an easy, quick stroll across the street and you are in downtown, with many restaurants and wine tasting rooms to visit. Sadly, 1801 and many other businesses in the city of Napa were hurt by a decrease in visitors from the widespread coverage of the Napa & Sonoma County Fires last October. However, the charming city of Napa, including 1801, were untouched... but people did not realize that, and so many canceled reservations. But the reality is that the city of Napa is unaffected, and open for business... and a wonderful place to visit. So go, and make sure you stay at 1801 during your visit. :)

We celebrated a big number anniversary in Napa and on TripAdvisor review recommendations chose this Inn. What a great choice. Our room on the second floor of the main house (#5) was charming. Well lit by a skylight that had a nice view over Napa town, a cozy fireplace, big bright bathroom with high end toiletries. The property is beautifully maintained (see pictures). Its a quick 5-10 minute walk to center Napa where there are lots of restaurants. Parking on site. Easy to drive to Napa wineries, Calistoga etc. At risk of sounding cliche, the staff was brilliant. Good wifi. So kind, laid back and knowledgeable about the area. Jim and Laura had so many cool stories of the region's history. Carrie, Blair and Shirlee arranged the afternoon wine tastings and breakfasts (cheers to the chef!). Don't miss the wine and cheese - even if you are the only ones in the room, the staff takes so much time to chat and make you feel at home. The staff gave us suggestions for winery visits based on our timing and tastes (Hess and Domaine Carneros) and these were spot on. The Wine Spectator editorial office is across the street in a typical Victorian building. The whole area is walkable and pretty. Not sure how this could be beat.

My husband and I stayed at 1801 First Luxury Inn for our annual anniversary trip. We had never been to Napa and I did a lot of research prior to deciding on this place. We stayed in the La Casa Dolce cottage and it was fantastic. It has a small courtyard and privacy. The entire place is accommodating. The breakfasts were spectacular and we looked forward to it each day. We were very late getting in on the first night and they left us access into the cottage and wine and a small charcuterie platter for our late arrival. Carrie and Blair are very friendly and the staff makes it so comfortable. We met other wonderful travelers and the socializing each evening added to the trip. I whole heartedly recommend 1801 First Luxury Inn.

This was only our 2nd experience at a bed and breakfast and we loved it! The location was ideal for walking to local restaurants and the owner and hostesses were a wealth of information. The breakfast every morning was delicious and the wine tasting every evening gave us a chance to learn more about the area. We visited 4 wineries, took a hot air balloon ride and enjoyed the many local restaurants. Two of our favorite restaurants were Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen and R & R Kitchen. Our favorite winery was Sterling because of the tour and the view. This bed and breakfast was recommended to us by friends and we will definitely spread the word!

Was treated to a birthday trip to Napa and we had a wonderful experience. Shirlee and Laura were VERY personable and kind. We had the chance to meet and have wine and cheese with Blair as well. The Inn itself is perfectly located and made getting around very easy. We really enjoyed being able to retreat to the Inn after each day. The breakfast each morning was such a bonus and the baked goods were DELICIOUS! No details were overlooked. We really felt like we were visiting with family. I recommend 1801 First Luxury Inn without hesitation and look forward to visiting again!
