When it opened in 1873, The Chanler at Cliff Walk was a mecca in Newport, Rhode Island for financiers, industrialists and tycoons. Following a multi-million dollar restoration, it today epitomizes the glories of yesteryear with lavishly adorned mansion accommodations, and garden and ocean villas that boast private gated courtyards. The name of each room reflects its décor, from the romantic English Trellis Room to the Renaissance Junior Suite evocative of Versailles.

You must experience the Chanler to fully understand why this is such a fabulous place to stay during your time in Newport. Everything about the Chanler can be summarized in one word...SUPERB. The location, the view, the food in the restaurants, the room, the service, everything was great. I don't believe you can stay in a finer place in Newport.

Excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable staff and beautiful hotel! The car service to and from mansions was an added bonus! The breakfast on the terrace was relaxing and delicious. I would highly recommend this beautiful and well run hotel.

I have been coming to Newport for many years and have stayed at many different hotels there-all were very good-however-after my first stay at The ChanlerI will stay nowhere else. Each suite is different and always charming. My favorites are the three waterfront suites but have been pleased with all the other ones I have stayed in. Looking forward to my next visit!

went there on weekend after our house had fire Thursday night, Already was planned. Had a wonderful relaxing time. All of the staff were great. Wish we could have stayed longer. Dinner in Cara was excellent.
First time here. The views were amazing. The room was wonderful and the staff was most accommodating. Even with a wedding on our first night we still felt that we always received personal attention. Never rushed, just very relaxing. We also were able to see other rooms as well... For our next stay
