Reviews for Saybrook Point Inn & Spa
Saybrook Point Inn & Spa is located right on a marina. This massive inn provided us with a room with a small balcony from which we could see the nearest lighthouse and the surrounding sea (Long Island Sound.) The room was large with two queen sized post end bed, a sitting area near a fireplace, as well as two desks, spacious closet, and very luxurious bathroom. If something malfunctioned, a staff member appeared within five minutes to fix the problem. The spa included an indoor pool, and outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room (which unfortunately was not working), bicycles for rent, and miles of walking trails. Though we didn't schedule a massage, the masseurs were also available. We had a delightful stay.
The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is an excellent experience and very much worthy of all the awards it has won from AAA and others. There are a number of things that make the hotel a great experience. First, the service is excellent everything was either nice or went above and beyond to accommodate basically every request we had. Second, the location is excellent. It has amazing views but is still only 5 minutes to downtown Saybrook, 15 minutes to great kayaking in Old Lyme, CT and 30 minutes to Mystic, CT. Third, the room we were in Three Stories has old charm but is still modern and beautiful. In general I really prefer modern style and I really liked this. And, finally, it is nice to be a boutique hotel but yet it has it all - hotel, spa, pool, fitness center and restaurant. My only small gripe about our experience is that I think they need to upgrade the pool to be more modern and make it larger. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday during the summer (high season) and the pool was packed. People there mentioned that on weekends it is extremely hard to get a seat. I think that the hotel has enough land there that they can make the pool larger and at the same time give it needed upgrades to make it more 21st century. I am still giving our stay 5 stars because this was a fairly minor thing but as someone who does plan to go back I hope that they do improve it.

This is a larger hotel-ish Inn that has thought through all the right details - nightlights on bathroom switches, light for Privacy/Clean instead of floppy signs, robes, good reading lights, very large bathroom with vanity and plenty of room for your stuff, two luggage racks, makeup mirror. High end décor: draperies, carpets, bed linens. Quiet - never heard a sound. We had a stunning view of a yacht and a large, comfortable balcony. Bikes to ride around Katherine Hepburn's neighborhood are available first-come. Old Saybrook is beautiful town. Poolside attendant with towels, tables next to lounge chairs, food and drink service including hot lobster rolls, oysters on the half shell...what's not to like?? It's expensive- but they deliver. The weak link is reservations - you have to call, long waits on the phone, I had inconsistent pricing (my own reservation was less expensive than the group 'special price' reservation for example). But once you get there, it's great.

The Saybrook Point Inn and Spa is a great place to escape to for some RR. The Inn has a lovely american historic ambience tied to the local community. Our room was large and updated with traditional antic decor. We also enjoyed the Spa that has enough services to get your relaxed and feel pampered. And at the front desk, you can rent bikes to ride to give you another options of getting around. A quick 2 night stay was just enough to use the services, dine and enjoy a little of the Old Saybrook town.

My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway and splurged on a "waterview luxury" room in the Three Stories Guesthouse. He paid $447 for one night. It was a beautiful luxury room and bathroom in a gorgeous house - with a view of the PARKING LOT in front of the "waterview". What a disappointment! Be very, very careful when you book your room - you may not get what you think you're paying for. Below is a photo taken from our balcony so you can see what we mean.
