My daughters treated me to an overnight stay at this beautiful inn. If you like being made to feel special, this is the place to go. Having stayed stayed here last May (my youngest daughter chose SPI for her wedding reception), I was thrilled to discover this was where my daughters were taking me for my 60th birthday celebration! SPI did not disappoint. These good folks wrote the book on customer service. Everywhere you turn you are greeted by friendly staff that are always asking how they can assist you. The rooms are elegant yet also cozy and comfortable. The spa is well run and I enjoyed a wonderful facial and more over the top customer service. We enjoyed delicious appetizers and the next morning a delicious breakfast at Fresh Salt. The food, the decor, the views, the wait staff...all amazing! I can't believe anyone would leave anything but a five Star review! Go there you will feel relaxed and pampered. Did I mention I swam in heated outdoor saltwater pool with ice chunks floating down the Connecticut river yards away? So special!

This place was hopping for January, but w figured it was mostly New Yorkers or New Englanders looking for a relaxing spa weekend. We thought the price for the room at this time of year was very high for what you got. Unfortunately it was foggy and yucky weather the night we were there, so we couldn’t even enjoy a nice view of the water. There are wood-burning fireplaces in each room and drinks and snacks you can pay for if you wish. The fitness center was nice. The spa looked very nice, and many people made use of the indoor pool. There is a wonderful restaurant at the Inn that we tried and I have reviewed separately. Even though we thought we paid a lot for our room, it wasn’t enough to include breakfast. They had Sunday brunch for $39.99 per person from 10-2, but we chose to eat elsewhere. There is also a free shuttle service to take you to certain places around town. I would imagine that this place is hopping in the summer.

Best place to stay on the Shoreline. Excellent staff, food and amenities are top notch. This is a must stay if your in the area as it is very relaxing and the views are spectacular. There are many options as well in the area but this spot is head and shoulders above the rest.

This is a lovely inn on the water in Old Saybrook. It is very clean, well run and has dining on site. The restaurant is a little pricey and the menu is very haute couture so if you are looking for just good old fashioned down home meals, you might not find your choice here. Drinks are expensive. I did not frequent the spa so can not comment. The inn's location is the best of all. Old Saybrook is a great quaint town to explore. The Kate in town has some wonderful shows. The Essex Steam train is nearby. A couple of exits down are the Tanger shopping outlets in Westbrook. In the winter, the inn hosts a Fire & Ice festival which is pretty cool- ice sculptures, music, food, firepits.
