Warm and exquisitely welcoming, the spirit of the South is alive and well at The Fearrington House Country Inn. This intimate member of the Relais & Chateaux collection is situated in charming Fearrington Village, just 8 miles from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Within its spacious bedrooms and suites, distinctive touches such as headboards made from ecclesiastical doors, hand-painted mantels and pine flooring from a workhouse along the Thames add to the distinctive character reminiscent of a lavish private home.

The gardens as always are beautiful and are such a wonderful setting for The Inn. The Inn definitely is in need of updating decor wise …..we were in a Superior Suite which had a bare minimum welcome in the suite ( bottled water and one bag of chips..) and the bathroom had bare necessities….. Room was cold 66F , heated floor not turned on in the bathroom. We only had breakfast in the restaurant. Cooked breakfast was not good. Overcooked eggs barely any hollandaise, inexperienced servers, flower arrangements wilted, dirty windows in restaurant area. Not up to Relais Chateaux standards. Shops closed Monday and Tuesdays. Disappointing really.

Elegance and gourmet dining with wonderful staff. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet with quality bedding. Common rooms are lovely and enjoyable. Gardens around and in the property were a delight even in winter. The dining is exemplary for both taste and service.

Had a wonderful birthday getaway at the Fearrington Inn. The property and all the amenities were top notch. I also enjoyed spa treatments and a yummy afternoon tea as well as visiting with the Belted cows and goats. I highly recommend this property.

I suppose it's all about the restaurant here, and that is how they are able to maintain their Relais and Chateau status AND how they can get away with overcharging for rooms. We had probably one of the nicest rooms - a suite with fireplace. A mid-week rate in January was $600 with tax. It was in dire need of an update. ALL the furnishings were old and sad - kind of like being at your Grandma's. No slippers provided and not even an in-room coffee maker. Awful televisions. Bathroom amenities were bare bone and no tub. I feel like heated towel racks were "a thing" maybe 20 years ago. The good news was breakfast was outstanding, along with the restaurant bar. Public spaces are much better kept than individual rooms. Landscaping very nice. My 90 minute massage at the spa with Kasey was outstanding. If they ever do something with those dreadful rooms, we will return.

I've been interested in staying/dining at Fearrington for quite some time, so I was glad to finally have done it. I had the standard King room, with a view of the gardens, so that was nice. The king bed and sheets were soft and comfortable, and the bathroom was nicely done. They have a heating rack for towels, so that was a neat touch. I could see where this hotel really shines, in the Spring and Fall. Winter is not the best time to see gardens and foliage, here. I do agree with the others that this hotel could use a refresh. I would like to see upgraded TV's and electronics in the rooms, along with coffee makers. The restaurant is great for the setting, atmosphere and presentation of the dishes. Funny enough, my favorite dish from here was the blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Those were the best blueberry pancakes I have ever had. The size and quality of the blueberries really stood out.
