Fantastic!!! Charm and Luxury With Zero Pretension

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We are veteran travelers who traditionally stay at high end resorts and hotels both inside the US and abroad. Through a random chain of events we found ourselves needing to find accommodations in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Given that it is a “Shore town”, I knew we would have fun in the sand and sun, but I did not have high hopes for finding a hotel that is at the caliber we are used to. I Googled “luxury accommodations in Rehoboth Beach” and hoped for the best. Imagine my surprise and delight when we arrived and found the Bellmoor to be the perfect combination of beachy, charming, luxurious and relaxing. We stayed in the Jackson Suite on the top floor and the room was small but immaculate, beautifully decorated, cozy and quiet with a cheerful gas fireplace in the corner to set the ambiance. There was a feel like you were staying in a rich relative’s southern mansion. There were multiple small libraries around every corner with crackling fireplaces awaiting someone to come and read a book, do a puzzle or play a board game. Each had a fridge filled with free Voss water and soda and free snack shelves stocked and restocked all day. The breakfast was included and delicious. Fresh fruit (berries! Not just the same tough melon you find at other buffets). You could eat inside the restaurant, on their enclosed brick patio, or on their outside bricked courtyard surrounded by beautiful flowers, a koi pond and water features creating a tranquil spot to have a (fantastic!) fresh made cappuccino. And the biggest surprise of all was the spa. I’m thinking, “spa in a Shore town, ok” and kept my expectations at an appropriate level because I have a terrible back and have gotten hundreds massages at some of the premier spas around the world. So I booked an 80 minute deep tissue massage with Blair and settled in for what I was hoping would be a pleasant and peaceful experience. What I got was one of the top 5 best massages OF MY LIFE. I was floored. This woman was a sorceress of some kind. She found muscles I didn’t even know I had and patiently moved me this way and that until they let go of all the tension. She stretched me and so clearly knew her way around human anatomy it was incredible. I can’t recommend her or the spa at the Bellmoor enough. If you are planning a stay, you need to splurge. Although, as massages go it was almost half of what I’m used to paying for the same level of service so I use “splurge” lightly. One last word for the staff who were friendly and helpful in a small town feel kind of way. Not stuffy and overly solicitous. More like well-trained locals who just wanted to be kind and give you a good stay. It was refreshing and charming. If you are a luxury traveler and are coming to Rehoboth Beach, do not sleep on the Bellmoor experience. Treat yourself to a 4th floor suite and a spa trip. You will not regret it.

The Bellmoor Inn & Spa - all that and more!

The Bellmoor Inn is all that and more! From its proximity to everything you need to the very friendly staff that was ready to help you at any given moment. The breakfast buffet with a made to order omeletes station cannot be beat! The golf cart service to/from the beach was very much appreciated as was the giant cooler with waters for the guests; a special little touch by the hotel. Would definitely recommend the Bellmoor Inn!

Hotel is in a great location. Rooms are comfortable and clean. We loved the family pool (even though they need more umbrellas on stands around the pool). We really appreciated the availability of coffee in the morning / cookies in the afternoon. The outdoor areas around the the hotel (for lounging and eating) are peaceful and relaxing.

Will never return, ruined vacation

Location is the only positive side of this place, 10 min walk to the beach. This is what we got for $500 per night + daily parking fee: The room we had (garden room, 1st floor) was dark, tiny, no decent A/C, no working TV, smelly closet, food crumbs in the drawer, cheapest toilet paper available. No sink in the bathroom, no decent hand soap/shower gel/body lotion in weathered dispensers. It was noisy because of the people walking/talking on the 2nd floor room above ours. The sink was in the room sharing space with the smelly old coffee machine. The buffet breakfast was mediocre, the usual overdone breakfast sausages, scramble eggs, some fruits, no fresh bakery item, just some limpy, dump, thawed muffins and scones. The best item in the buffet was coffee. Upon arrival we saw dirty footsteps in the bath tub. There are two pools on the property, both had dirty water in them. If the General Manger of the property is aware of all these problems and made no desire to correct them, than he/should not be in hospitality business. Also, I would like to see at least one of the people who posted 5 star reviews of this property. They either had very different experience or have no idea about what the decent hotel should look like.
