Reviews for Hamurana Lodge
The welcome from the staff was wonderful and throughout our 2 day stay the level of service was first class. The location was a bit further from town than I had expected but in beautiful grounds with a lovely view of the lake through the trees. The ambience is a bit like that of a country house but one that is slightly tired and not so much shabby chic as juts slightly down at heel. Nothing overtly amiss just not quite to the standard we had expected for the price which was more in the range of a top quality hotel

Rarely experienced being pampered and taken care of from the first moment upon arrival like at Hamurana Lodge, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Guests looking for fresh air, absolute quietness and a stylish but not extravagant setting are just right at this address.

Hamurana Lodge made a change from many of the other places we stayed - modern motels - as it is more like a home on a country estate. Our room was very comfortable and included ots of extras - Nespresso coffee machine, water soft drinks, nuts and sweets ! The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. It’s a little way outside Rotorua so a taxi ride in to find dinner but a nice spot.

My husband and I returned to Hamurana Lodge about three years after our first visit and found it just as warm and welcoming as it was on the first visit. We were thrilled with our room, a generously proportioned suite on the first floor adjacent to the lounge and dining area and overlooking the gardens and Lake Rotorua. The king sized bed was comfy as were the chairs in our room. Everything was set out for comfort, and really we could have happily stayed in the room for the whole stay rather than venturing out to explore. Patrick, who’d welcomed us so warmly on our first visit, was still there and just as welcoming this time. His small team of helpers were equally professional. Breakfast each morning was delicious and served in the dining area over looking the lake, so pleasant views to accompany the meal. I really can’t fault this place! We will happily go back there again and again.

Stayed for three nights in February. Wanted to be out of the main area of Rotorua. Hamurana lodge did not disappoint, it was a lovely place to stay for three nights. The service was very personal. We had the food platter the first night as we had had a long drive to get there and it was more than we could eat. We had a suite on the ground floor which was very nice, well furnished and very clean. The bathroom was a good size with L' Occitan toiletries which were very nice too. Breakfast was very good with fresh fruit and yogurt, cold meats and cheeses. You could also have cooked eggs for breakfast too. The newly refurbished pool and decking looked inviting. If you want something quieter, Hamurana Lodge will not disappoint.
