What's not to love about the Inn at Perry Cabin? Beautiful, peaceful, classic, great service. A few things other travelers haven't mentioned: 1) go off season before or after the sailing people come--the inn and town are uncrowded (as is the excellent restaurant) and the rates are so much better. We went this time in late March and it was still warm enough to enjoy the beautiful grounds and our day in St. Michaels. 2) bring your dog. They love dogs. There is a dog concierge. They give you a recipe for their homemade dog biscuits (they call it "puppy crack." No kidding.)

We had an amazing stay at the Inn at Perry Cabin. The room was smallish, but so well appointed, comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated, and serene. The staff was extremely attentive, professional, and friendly. The service from the bellman, to the front desk, to the restaurant and catering staff could not have been better. We also greatly enjoyed every meal, made use of the gorgeous pool, and toured, I believe, most of the gardens. So why am I giving it only 3/5. I think it is obnoxious to charge well over $600 a night before taxes and still add on a 10% resort fee, particularly when you aren't told in advance of this charge. Resort fees in my experience are typically a flat fee, as well, since each guest has access to same services rather than a percentage of room rate. I understand it might have been in the fine print somewhere, and I won't fight the desk clerk who is just tasked with informing guests and has no authority to change this. That just makes everyone uncomfortable. But the management and owners should know that after an amazing stay it leave a very bad last impression to see this on the statement. I would love to go back to the Inn at Perry Cabin, but hope they consider this policy and impact it has on customer satisfaction.

So I'm currently sitting outside on my balcony and there is blaring music. We came here with family friends, and we both have little kids. Our plan was to put the kids down each night and eat outside on our balconies. However if you're here on a weekend (particularly Saturday nights), prepare for blaring outdoor music during wedding season. If we hadn't explicitly asked about this when we checked in, confirming we wouldn't hear the parties with where they would put us, I probably wouldn't be so pissed about it all. The hotel and pool are nice - but I would hold off on coming until the off season. Just not worth the price during the summer season. Particularly when you're treated as a second class guest compared to the parties they're hosting.

Went for lunch on a beautiful Wednesday to celebrate two friends birthday. We had made reservations but still had to wait for them to put tables together for our group of seven. Then we waited 15 minutes for water even though they was only one table occupied when we arrived. As some people were late we thought to order appetizers. Only one choice. When food arrived salad entrees were very small with shrimp add on being very salty. When the two ceasar salads arrived with anchovies even though both had asked not to have them, the server said that "was how they came out and we should talk to our waitress". She didn't show until we were almost done. Although it is as beautiful as ever none of us would go back until current management.

We've been checked into our "upgraded" room at a rate of over $1K/night for about 20 minutes. We have been trying to stay here since 2001, and are big Belmond fans and customers, so, naturally, we expected the same kind of ... Service? Amenities? Attitude? that Belmond is known for. Well. The room is clean. There is no minibar. We have a nice closet and a decent bathroom. We called ahead to note that we would be arriving early. When we arrived at Valet/Entrance, around 1 pm, there was no valet. Or Anyone. For 30 minutes. We checked in and were told our room would be "expedited" and that they would call us in about an hour. After no call, we went back to the hotel at 3pm, and again, no greeting or Valet. We parked and three uniformed employees chatting in the parking lot said "hello" but no one offered to carry bags. We wandered in to find that our room had not been readied after all, and they suggested we wait in the bar (2 free cocktails) and that they would come and get us. They didn't. My husband went back after 3:30 and they handed him our keys and said "The room is ready. It's upstairs." That's it. Not "let us take you to your room" or anything. I asked "Can someone show us our room? And they said, "It's upstairs". No one moved an inch or picked up a phone to call service. May I say again this room was over $1K/night?????! I am uploading photos of this "upgraded suite". What a disappointment !! One tiny window overlooking the water and 2 others overlooking the parking lot and roof. Oh, and the ceilings in the room are LOW - 7' tall. I have included photos of everything so you can see what $1100 a night buys here. I asked for a Manager and got a very nice Supervisor, who apologized profusely for the TOTAL AND COMPLETE lack of service. I am shocked that this is a BELMOND property, which is exactly what I told the Supervisor. We just got off the Belmond Orient Express last month and are trying to book another Belmond trip next summer, but are seriously reconsidering now. I have not heard back from anyone in management, and frankly, would be further shocked at this point, if I did. I will add to this post after we check out, but so far, totally and completely disappointed.
