Perry Cabin lives up to the hype! I give it the highest ratings I've given to a any of our many excursions. It's location on the bay is sensational, its staff is attentive without being obsequious, it's a "classy joint"! Having driven up from North Carolina in one fell swoop, we arrived tired and irascible. My wife and I were quickly whisked to a lovely room overlooking a lawn, water and yachts. Dinner was impeccable with pate de foie gras and oysters with a mignonette sauce. Perfect. Of course, as we are on the Chesapeake Bay, we both ordered crab cakes. Light, lump meat served with a fresh succotash seasoned with saffron (I think). One Creme Brûlée to cap the evening off which my wife had to fend me off of! This all came at a costly cost... with tip $230! Expensive but worth it.

We have always enjoyed the pub for a great casual lunch and service. The pub was under construction and moved at the Inn however the service and drinks at the bar were still top notch. The food and presentation was not. The menu has changed. The crab soup is less exciting than before, limited crab and served in a small crock type bowl, not very elegant. Our burger was cooked to request however it is served in a bowl, like a basket, with a checkered waxed paper lining similar to what you would expect at TGI Fridays. The experience was not elegant or upscale as in the past. The fries are now Cajun seasoned? Who does that? Not everyone likes Cajun seasoning. This seemed more Honky Tonk than what the Cabin has been known for. Unfortunately without change back to the white linen and white dish service we would not recommend or return. What a shame.

This place will not be in our "rotation." Great room, excellent food and atmosphere. The staff is friendly and excellent. Everything you'd want it to be.Right on the water. Take a room that overlooks the river.

My letter to the General Manager of the Inn at Perry Cabin follows. I'd like to note that Mr. Archanbault replied to my letter and thoughtfully addressed each of my concerns. This is just the kind of conscientious attitude which will compel me to return. Mr. Reginald Archanbault General Manager Inn at Perry Cabin 308 Watkins Lane St. Michaels, Maryland 21663 April 6, 2017 Dear Mr. Archanbault, It has been sixteen years since my wife and I visited the Inn at Perry Cabin. The last time, we moored our boat at the end of the dock and slept aboard while my mother in law took a room at the inn. We all enjoyed the bounty of the dining room and the scenic pleasures of St. Michaels for several days. Our return for a night last week was due to the fact that it seemed like a better idea to pause at the inn than to make a seven hour round trip by car from our home in Virginia. We weren’t disappointed. There have been many changes in our absence. The once small, quaint and attractive inn by the harbor has super-sized…….. more buildings, more rooms, a pool and a spa. The inn may have grown, (and the neighborhood around it as well), but one thing has not changed….the friendly and attentive service. Our room, #67 in one of the new additions, Ariel, was spacious and offered a view of the water from the room and its small balcony with a table and two chairs. The bathroom was extremely nice….well thought out and very attractive. However (you knew there was going to be a “however” even as you hoped there wouldn’t), I would like to offer a few remarks of constructive criticism: 1. The porch is in need of a new paint job. It is dingy and peeling. More important, there is considerable rot in the walls and corners of the porch which, if left untreated, will cause more headache and expense for you down the road. 2. The room is better suited for one queen or one king bed against the bathroom wall rather than two double beds against the wall opposite the fireplace. This would give more room for a sitting area next to the fireplace rather than have a chair crammed into the corner of the room next to one of the double beds. 3. The shower needs a lip at the door to keep the water inside the shower room. As it is, if one doesn’t put two towels on the floor outside the shower, water will run across the bathroom floor as well as around the corner into the toilet room. 4. Here’s my unending complaint about almost every hotel in the world……rough toilet paper. We paid hundreds of dollars for a very nice room only to have rough toilet paper. You offer aloe infused facial tissue at the sink; why can’t you offer Charmin at the toilet? 5. The left sink on the vanity has its faucets mounted backwards. In other words, the hot and cold water turn on and off in the wrong direction. The right sink is correctly mounted, however. 6. When we entered the room, we noticed an unpleasant odor. Could it be the rug? 7. Upon our arrival, one of the double beds was off its frame by a foot. We had to ask room keeping to come and fix it while we went to dinner. 8. I’m not sure that the exhaust fan in the toilet works. You might want to make sure it does. My only other observation comes from the dining room where, I might add, we had a delicious afternoon tea followed by a delicious dinner and a delicious breakfast the morning of our departure. I’d like to suggest that your grounds crew wait until after breakfast is over before beginning their invasion of the front lawn with mowers and weed whackers. I do like to watch people work, but not first thing in the morning over a cup of coffee and eggs benedict. So, here’s the all-important question….will we return. Despite the fact that the inn has lost much of its small size charm, the answer is yes. The next time we venture onto the Delmarva Peninsula, we will return to the Inn at Perry Cabin. Hopefully, it won’t take us another sixteen years. Kind regards, Peter H.S. Wood

We had an excellent executive management retreat. The rooms are wonderful. The service for the catered breakfast, lunches and dinners was wonderful. Beautiful scenery. The bar was very cozy and selection was top notch. Excellent all around.
