I visited in spring for a weekend and it was incredible. Fantastic service. Room upgrade. Lawn bursting with flowers. Dog friendly. Free bikes to ride to town in. Wonderful cocktails and food on the lawn. Fire pits. And, a sunset sail. We'll be back for sure! PS. It's pricey, but sign up for their email for discounts. And, also check your rewards points. Chase features the Inn at Perry Cabin!

We went there after the recommendation of the real estate agent. Slow service on a quiet day, I don't want to see what it would look like on a summer day. Food not what you would expect from a five stars establishment.

I should've known when we pulled up to the inn and it took 15 minutes before someone welcomed us at the front and offered us any help with our car and our luggage. And I've never been to a fancy place where there's no one to greet guests, but I suppose there's a first time for everything. My wife and I spent the weekend in room 47, a room that was advertised as a "water view suite." And it was water view, if you walked out onto the balcony, moved all the way to the right and looked to your left. At the least it should've been labeled as partial-water view, but that turned out to be just the beginning of the misadventure. First of all, the good parts. The place is aesthetically beautiful, the setting is beautiful, the room itself was beautiful, the grounds are beautiful. It really is a nice place and could be a 5-star resort if the service wasn't so poor. The first night we were there we had a private sail to celebrate our anniversary and it was incredible. We were on the 38-foot sailboat with Captain Bud, a bottle of cava and great weather. That was a memorable experience and when we got back we decided to eat at Purser's Pub, that was our first mistake. The service in the pub is atrocious, not only did we wait forever for our food but we had to keep getting up from our table to order any drinks. This despite the fact that there were less than 10 people in the pub that night AND the fact that the bartender/server told us she'd be coming around to see if we needed anything. The real fun, however, didn't start until the next morning when we ordered room service. At 9:15am we ordered a pot of coffee and were told it would be there in 30 minutes or less. At 9:49am, when the coffee wasn't there, we ordered breakfast which we were told would be there in 30 minutes or less. The person on the other end of the line also told us she'd check into where that pot of coffee was. At 10:45am, with no coffee and no food, we got a call from room service asking us if we still wanted our order. That's right, they asked us if we still wanted our order. At 10:55am room service showed up with breakfast and two pots of coffee, the waiter claiming no one ever told him about the first pot of coffee. While he was in the room we mentioned to him that the fireplace wasn't working, and given that it was in the 60s and cloudy for most of the weekend a fireplace would've bene a nice touch. He told us he'd be in touch with maintenance and that would come and have a look. To no one's surprise, maintenance never came, never looked, never did anything. How do I know? Because when the waiter left he kept the fireplace switch in the "on" position and when I checked it 8 hours later it was still on. Sunday morning we decided we weren't going to wait to experience the room service marathon again so we went down to Stars Restaurant for breakfast. We waited 10 minutes at the desk before someone came to seat us, with 3 people walking by us in that time frame telling us "someone will be right with you." Once we were seated, I can honestly say I've never seen so many flies inside what's labeled a fine dining restaurant. And, as in the pub the night before, the service was horrible. It took 10 minutes for a server to come by, take our order and after were done I had to go searching for her in order to get the bill. But those flies....really appetizing. Some other things to take note of....if there are chairs set up outside on the back lawn and people are sitting there, why isn't anyone out there offering to take drink orders? Upon checkout, the credit that we were told would be on the bill wasn't there....why? How come, an hour after eating breakfast at the restaurant, how come the charge wasn't posted on the bill so that the person at check-out could give me a complete bill? How come the stairwells are dirty and in need of vacuuming? Finally, how is a 10% "resort fee" charged on top of the room rate? I mean, The Venetian in Las Vegas charges $35 a night for a resort fee, for what really is a 5-star resort. So how can this place charge $89 on top of an $890 room rate? Talk about taking an unnecessary bite out of a paying guest, I'm still wondering what I could've done with that $89 charge apart from riding the bikes outside the front door. The place is either understaffed or poorly managed. The only 2 people we encountered the entire weekend who tried to make a difference were Shontia at the front desk and Eric the driver who took us into town, they listened to us and genuinely cared that we weren't having the perfect time. These are problems that are easily remedied either by hiring more people or different management, but someone would have to care enough in order to do that. Until then, I can't recommend it. There are so many fine hotels and resorts around the country where the service matches the surroundings. This place has the beauty, but it doesn't have the corresponding service. I'm not sure if it's an indictment of the Belmond chain as a whole or this particular management team, but either way I'll think twice before I stay at a Belmond hotel again. And when I visit the region again, I'll be sure to stay somewhere else.

We stayed in a water-front suite and it was lovely. The room was clean and well appointed. The pool was gorgeous, although the wait staff was a little understaffed in that area. The fitness center was clean, with equipment in full working order, and the cool eucalyptus towels were a nice touch. We didn't get to the spa this trip, but I will definitely book services on our next visit. The dinner at Stars was the best meal we had in town all weekend. Every member of the staff was friendly and helpful, but check-in, to maintenance and housekeeping, to the bar tender in the Bar and the servers in the restaurant. One of the nicest short getaways we've had in our 15 years of marriage. Highly recommend! (Oh- and while we didn't stay there, a tip from another guest- room 16 has the best view in the hotel. They planned their trip a year and a half in advance to request it)

Had a business meetings in saint Michael and stayed at the inn. Had a suite facing the water. The room was large, clean, luxury and well equipped. The staff at inn were amazing, they were attentive and extremely helpful. If you have to go to St Michael, you should consider staying at the inn.
