This bed and breakfast is in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The house itself is surrounded by beautiful gardens, water fountains and small cottage type rooms. We got there quite late on the one night we were staying there but the hostess kept the wine and afternoon h'orderves out so we could have some. She was very welcoming and was very helpful with restaurant recommendations. At her suggestion we ordered our breakfast to be served on our private balcony which was lovely. We did not get to socialize much with the other guests and even though we weren't there for long the setting does not seem to encourage a lot of interaction as there are many different seating areas. Breakfast was good - I believe the restaurant is vegetarian so there was no meat selections. Room was comfortable - it is an old house so it does have the feel of being" antiquish " . Bed was very comfortable.

Loved every experience of the Simpson House Inn. Upon parking in the motor court, we were immediately greeted by the GM with a warm welcome. A beautiful Victorian house with understated elegant rooms, beautiful gardens with soothing fountains. Loved the quiet atmosphere in a residential area within a blocks walking distance to State Street restaurants and the Alice Keck Park botanical gardens. The breakfast menu speciality changed each morning---All gourmet and delicious. Staff was 5 star all around; friendly with personal greetings; helpful with restaurant recommendations and making reservations. The Best. Short distance from every destination in SB, the wharf and Montecito. We'll be back!

When I booked this, I wanted something that was not your everyday hotel and did want to be in a situation where it would be loud of there would be unattended kids running up and down the halls. Well, that the Simpson House is not! My husband and I pulled up and kind of looked at each other as the Inn is not visible from the street, rather nicely hidden behind beautiful hedges. They have private parking and as we exited our car we were immediately greeted and escorted into the Inn. It was on the late side for wine and hors d'oeuvres time but the inn keeper had kept some out for us! We stayed in the main house in a room which was lovely and chocked full of history. AS we walked through the living room we noticed the lit fireplace and the table full of 5 girl friends who continued to play Mahjong for many more hours. The room is not only filled with lots and lots of books, but also a book containing the history of the Inn, another with local restaurant menus, and a stand full of activity brochures. They are happy to make suggestions and reservations. We spent 3 nights at the Inn enjoying the beautiful breakfast, which can be enjoyed indoors or on the veranda, the afternoon tea and cookies, the nightly hors d'oeuvres, and the evening desserts. Although we walked to and from downtown several times and to the Wharf, we made time to sit and enjoy the yard at the property. Our room was cozy and quiet and always kept clean. The sound of the fountains could be heard in the room and were comforting. While I expected the Inn to be nice, I was surprised at the attention to detail made to make every aspect of the visit enjoyable. I found myself envisioning visiting the Inn in the future with my sisters and just hanging out in the yard, walking to town and back, and then playing games by the fire. The Inn offers 6 rooms in the main house, 4 units in the what had been the barn, and 3 cottages. Most rooms accommodate 2, although an occasional third can be accommodated. Children are not allowed, which makes for a peaceful adult environment. There is nothing more I can say about what a special experience it was to stay at the Inn.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in March. I visit Santa Barbara often and always stay in a hotel on State Street, but wanted to try a different place this time. Simpson House Inn is a lovely Inn/B&B on a quiet residential street. Very well maintained historic building and beautifully landscaped gardens. All rooms are unattached from the main building in guesthouse type accommodations. Each room has a name, I think ours was the Garden Room. It was very nicely decorated, cottage style. There was a small patio with a table for eating breakfast, if we wanted it delivered to our room, but we chose to eat in the dining room. Dining room was elegant and tastefully decorated. The main breakfast dish was different everyday, but there was always granola, cereals, eggs, toast and pastries on the menu. Food was served in lovely English chinaware. There was also afternoon wine and appetizers in the later afternoon (cheeses, fruit, chips & different cooked items each day). All staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again.
