Reviews for Beaconsfield Inn

Maybe another room?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I was so excited to arrive at Beaconsfield. The reviews were glowing. The location is amazing - walking distance to everything. I booked the smallest unit. The first tour was like walking into a small Downton Abbey. Jenny and Siu were just wonderful and attentive to any concerns. It was a little chilly at first, and they promptly turned the heat up. I couldn't give it 5 stars, however, because the room is seriously in need of renavation. As another guest said, the carpets should be replaced, the curtains should be taken down and washed, and perhaps opaque curtains put in the spacious bathroom. They were semi sheer, and even though generously gathered, I just felt exposed at night. The dust made it difficult to breathe. It's a spectacular looking room and the old fashioned ambience is terrific. But the dust made for a pretty uncomfortable stay. There are other bigger suites in the Inn and perhaps they don't have the same problem.

This bed and breakfast is special. A lovely Victorian building with many original features. Very comfortable and quiet location and an easy walk into town. The staff are so pleasant and helpful and the breakfast is such a treat. I found myself looking forward to seeing what there would be for breakfast each day. So nicely cooked, tasty and well presented, top notch! Really nice touch in the library with cake and a sweet wine to help yourself in the evening too. Will definitely recommend Thank you Beaconsfield!

What a quaint find! But serve the breakfasts quicker.

Pros - Great location, within an easy walk to most things. Loved the ambience, complimentary sherry and chess: free car park and nice quiet area. Cons - Our room the 'Veranda' was looking a little tired, the mattress was uncomfy and a blackout blind was missing from the window overlooking the bed. The breakfast was so slow, we'd been sat there for 30mins before even being offered a morning drink. When it did come it was tasty, but v small portions and again a lot of time between the two courses. On our second day, we had to ask for it to be boxed as we knew we'd miss our ferry, but we still had to wait quite a while for this.

Very different experience

We loved it...stayed in the Emily Carr room. Beautiful architecture and although it's a bit dark, it really made you feel like you were saying at the queen's house. There were a few minor glitches like no milk/sugar in the room, but we asked and received those right away. Breakfasts were nice and fresh. There isn't air conditioning, but the fans provided were more than adequate for the time we visited (Aug 20-22, 2022). Martin (one of the staff was amazing and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely go back!

I enjoyed three nights in the beautiful Beaconsfield Inn, just a short walk from Victoria's Inner Harbor. The staff was truly welcoming, the building beautiful and we were pampered, fed, informed and entertained our entire visit. For anyone planning a visit to Victoria and looking for a cozier, intimate and friendly setting, you couldn't do better than the Beaconsfield. The dinner at Matisse turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. All in all, a stellar luxury weekend! I'd go back in a heartbeat.
