Romantic Las Vegas
Destination(s): Las Vegas

Las Vegas is full of romantic possibilities. It’s thoroughly saturated with the sensual, but whether you love roses or lingerie, Las Vegas has something for you. Since Las Vegas has such an abundant supply of wedding chapels, the city is full of things for those in love (or simply besotted). Whether strolling through recreations of Old World Venice or Paris, dining in fine restaurants, taking a drive together, or taking in a show (either steamy or romantic), couples will find ample opportunities for memorable moments. ~Photo by Sam Hatch~ read more about Romantic Las Vegas... Las Vegas Outside Adventures

Las Vegas Outside Adventures
Destination(s): Las Vegas

While Las Vegas has long been known as an adult playground, it’s a well-kept secret that Las Vegas also sits in the heart of some of the Mojave Desert’s most beautiful scenery. Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area contains world-class rock climbing, Valley of Fire State Park has been a background for many movies, and Lake Mead is the largest man-made lake in the United States. If you are more interested in Mother Nature than Lady Luck, you’ll find plenty of places to explore away from the Strip. read more about Las Vegas Outside Adventures... Read More

Off The Beaten Path in Las Vegas
Destination(s): Las Vegas

Sure, everyone thinks of the Strip when they think of Las Vegas. But since the population of metropolitan Las Vegas is now about two million, visitors can also explore beyond the glitz. You’ll need a car to really explore Las Vegas, so keep that in mind when planning your trip. You’ll find museums, parks, animal sanctuaries, vast expanses of desert, and fun alternatives to Strip shows. Since finding a place to gamble is never a problem in Las Vegas—they even have poker machines in the grocery stores—you’ll have plenty of opportunities to test your luck, no matter how far off the beaten path you venture. ~Picture of Red Rock Canyon, Calico Basin~ read more about Off The Beaten Path in Las Vegas... West of Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon offers hikers a multitude of trails. The Fire Ecology trail, off the Pine Creek trail, is an easy path to the creek. Continue on the Pine Creek trail, and you’ll find the remnants of an old homestead. Willow Springs is another easy trail leading to riparian habitat. On the Ice Box Canyon and Calico Tanks trails, rock cairns help mark the way. The six-mile White Rock/La Madre Springs trail gives you a good view of the Keystone Thrust, some of Red Rock’s oldest rock formations. Access the First Creek trail off State Route 159; no entrance fee is required. ~Pictured: Ice Box Canyon~ read more about Las Vegas Outdoors: Great Red Rock Canyon Hikes... Read More

Around Las Vegas: Great Places for a Drive

Around Las Vegas: Great Places for a Drive
Destination(s): Las Vegas

Las Vegas is in the Mojave Desert, North America's smallest desert, and home to miles of two-lane roads. For a day-trip outside of the Neon City, take a picnic and spend some time on the road. Multi-colored sandstone fractures Southern Nevada in places, and a huge man-made lake sits just a couple of hours from the Strip. The mountains west of town are much cooler than in Las Vegas. At the higher altitudes in both Lee and Kyle Canyons, take a break from the car and hike to see if you can spot a bristlecone pine, one of the longest-lived types of trees. ~Photo courtesy of Frank Kovalchek~ read more about Around Las Vegas: Great Places for a Drive...
