We stayed at El Silencio at the recommendation of our travel company Central America Vacation, and they were spot on! This place was the perfect remote and quiet getaway. We did several of their tours during out stay, each one was amazing and unique. The guides were friendly and fun which provided some distraction during some of our more difficult hikes (they even cleaned and dried our muddy shoes after!) The food was amazing during our entire trip, the entire staff was friendly and assisted us with practicing our Spanish. Make sure you check out the waterfalls on the property if you go, they are not to be missed!

Stayed here for 3 nights and I have to say I absolutely LOVED it. Was the 3 rd property we had visited in different locations all with their different good points. However nothing came anywhere near this place. Every comfort is catered for from fires in the room, to hot chocolate delivered every afternoon, and shoes cleaned FOC. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience. My husband was poorly with a really bad cold and they delivered dinner to the room even though this is not a part of their normal service. Special mention to the waiters Eduardo, Jonas and another lovely young guy with dark hair, tall whose name I have lost. The reception too were brilliant, both girls were eager to please and helpful. As my husband was ill, we missed a bird watching tour which without asking they refunded to our bill. You are in the cloud forest so the weather is unpredictable to say the least. We did manage the waterfall hike with Orlando which was lovely and he took time to point out anything of interest. For me, forget rustic, if you want to be remote but in complete comfort then this is the place for you.

Our trip was just a short weekend get-a-way and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hot tub was hot when we arrived and they delivered our hot chocolate right to our cabin. The macadamia crusted chicken was delicious at the Las Ventanas restaurant. The next morning was cool, but nice for a hike to 5 different falls. Too bad we didn't have more time to relax even more.

The positive reviews say it all... the property is not so easy to reach, but when you arrive you immediately feel like it is your private resort in the cloud forest. It was an absolutely perfect honeymoon destination with everything you need on the property and, perhaps more importantly, an absence of the things that you really can live better without. The rooms are perfectly appointed, the food and staff are wonderful and the surroundings could not be more spectacular. This is a place I would love to visit on a yearly basis to disconnect from all of the stress of the modern world!

My wife and I wanted some adventure while in Costa Rica, but also to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We found El Silencio Lodge and Spa which is located between the two national parks. Amazing just doesn’t explain it. In our three days we repelled down a waterfall and zip lined on the property site, visited three unreal waterfalls (again on site) while swimming directly under one of the (the water is cold in November, about 62 degrees), and then did an off-site hike to Las Gemelas waterfalls which is known for the turquoise blue water from the volcano. Because it was the rainy season be prepared to get wet and muddy, especially to Las Gemelas. It was a 5 mike trek through deep mud, through a river, and down steep stairs...but it was completely worth it. There was too much rain so the amount of water in the river didn’t allow for the vibrant blue colors but we didn’t care. As for the hotel, you won’t find nicer staff or accommodations in the rainforest. Just some names I remember, Roberto greeted us and lead the repel/zip line tour with Emilio. They are superb. We felt completely safe and the experience was unbelievable. Kenneth lead the onsight waterfall hike and helped us plant a fig tree (recommended for all guests and is free, this is how they are repopulating the once sparse area which now looks like it was a rainforest for hundreds of years. He also was extremely knowledgeable about all plants, animals and insects along with the history of the area and lodge. The waiters not only were friendly, but memorized our names and greeted us with a friendly smile each day. And finally our room was fantastic. Large bedroom with a comfy king size bed, huge bathroom, and a personal hot tub (we didn’t even mind the huge spider that lived in the palapa above us). The food...was...to die for! Everything was fresh, local, organic, and so tasty. We can’t say enough of our stay. Everything we could ask for and more.
