The facility is very nice on the surface, but lacks practicality. The villas are divided into multiple modules, in that each bedroom, the living room and kitchen are individual, stand-alone modules. If you're traveling with children, while there's plenty of living space, your child's bedroom will be separate and independent from yours. It would be impossible to hear them at night. The master is tight, so having your kids in the same room would also be difficult. We called in advance to say we would arrive early. Despite several tries to get a live person on the phone, we finally left a voicemail. It turns out, they don't really check that. When we arrived at 1 p.m., they were not expecting us. So we asked about checking-in early, and were told that they were cleaning our villa, and that it would be ready BY 4 o'clock. What they really meant is that it would be ready AT 4 o'clock. It's a small preposition, but it changes the course of one's day. Being up front about no early check-in would have been critical. Instead, we loitered in their lobby for hours, without any updates on availability. The kiddie pool is spectacular. That is really the only activity for kids at this location.

Absolutely gorgeous. The outdoor shower is amazing and my husband had the biggest thrill driving to the wineries in the "loaner" vehicle. We especially appreciated going to the chicken coop and picking out our fresh eggs for breakfast. The staff at the Lodge were so personable. Loved them, a gentleman from Greece and another man who was local. The pool is gorgeous and had a sophisticated, yet fun and relaxed vibe. The food was delicious. Also they honored our requests to stay near the entrance, as we were visiting multiple wineries since we are from the East Coast and wanted to explore as much as possible. My minor issue is with the front desk in regards to their outside shipping company. Eagle Rock. I left over a month ago and only just received my wine and olive oils. I was never told that someone had to be over 21 and its signature required. Also they claim they held on to my shipment citing heat concerns when I checked off I wanted ground. You held onto my shipment for an extra $15 when you already had my credit card information and I did not know the price anyway? Send it and charge me. We continued on to Seattle and I had explained this to the front desk and I should have known this was a bad idea to ship through Calistoga when the front desk was so hands off, had me fill out the form and wouldnt entertain my instructions, instead just kept reiterating its another company. If this is who Calistoga uses and recommends then they should take some ownership for the bottles of wine being shipped from their resort as we are paying guests. Eagle Rock said they tried contacting me which yes they did, at home! We weren't there. So for over $100 for ground shipping, I received my wine over a month later. The way the front desk staff at Calistoga and Eagle Rock responded tainted the resort for me. Otherwise I would recommend this place more highly, and a place of this caliber should choose their vendors more wisely.

We like to think of Calistoga Ranch as one of our primary homes away from home. The moment the valet greets us at the property, we feel a relaxing calm that lasts throughout our entire stay. The luxurious accommodations always meet our expectations. The outdoor shower is a highlight! We simply love the property, and always look forward to our next visit! It's a pricey stay, but well worth it!

we were looking for privacy and relaxation after flying in from New Zealand. Calistoga Ranch was perfect. Our room was next to the Spa and very close to the restaurant. My wife thought the Spa staff were great. Staff at restaurant for breakfast were friendly and professional and the meals were wonderful. Pancakes, eggs Bennie, llspecial Mexican dish and some amazing bread. The rooms were spacious and private. The concierge was particularly helpful arranging personal wine tastings and dinners. Of course, have to mention the complimentary line-up of

This is the second time we have visited this resort within the past year. It is by far my wife's and my favorite resort. It is expensive. It is worth the expense. We stayed again in a one bedroom bungalow. It was the same unit that we had during our last visit (we had requested the same suite) and were accommodated. Our suite was beautifully appointed and serene. It had an outdoor shower (open to the sky but still private) that we both enjoyed. I had never seen that before at a resort. There is something very relaxing about it. Our unit had two buildings: one which was the bedroom suite, bathroom, indoor shower, tub and outdoor shower. This opened in a spacious deck that connected to a separate building consisting of a living room suite and bar. That suite also had a half bath and refrigerator with bar. There is an indoor and outdoor fireplace that services the living room and outdoor deck. The outdoor deck had a table with two chairs, and two lounge chairs. It also had a private hot tub. Just wonderful. We loved sitting there during the cool mornings and evenings. We ate in the restaurant every morning for breakfast. The food was outstanding, as was the service from Daniel, our waiter for three days of our stay. We had fresh squeezed juices and the best English muffins that I have ever had. We ordered room service two separate nights. The food and service was excellent. In fact, we ordered a warm dessert and they suggested that they deliver it a half hour after the main meal, in order to make sure that it was warm when we ate it. Very good service! Every staff member we encountered was excellent. The staff takes a great pride in this property and we very much appreciated it. We leave tomorrow after a five day stay. My wife is sad to leave but I have promised that we will return again soon. Can't wait. This hotel is an oasis that must be enjoyed. It is not inexpensive but if you can afford it, stay here. Enough said.
