As always we loved the Rhodes Suite and the amazing dinner and breakfast and cocktail hour. It truly is like coming home when we are there, and this is a gift that the Otahuna has. An incomparable experience when visiting New Zealand
Otahuna Lodge is a very special place. It was without peer of places we stayed during our month in New Zealand. We loved it so much we hated to leave, wanted to stay longer and vowed to come back. Why? On arrival, it felt like Downton Abbey. The staff came out to greet us by name. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms exceptional. The food a culinary delight. Most of all, they genuinely seem to welcome their guests and do everything to make the stay at Otahuna Lodge memorable. They do a superb job of blending guests during pre-dinner drinks without forcing socialization that people might not want. Walking the grounds transports you to another time and age. From the person who takes you your luggage up to your room to the proprietor Arthur everyone does what they can to accommodate you. Even your laundry is quietly taken away and cleaned for free with a very short turn around time. Anyone would be lucky to book a stay at Otahuna Lodge, and I encourage you to stay there for at least a week, not the three days we were there. We didn't want to leave.

The very best place to stay in the world!
This is the best place I have ever stayed in! I have travelled the world and seen many countries, stayed in amazing hotels but have never experienced anything like this. Miles, Hall, and their team have hospitality and service completely mastered! The food is the best I have experienced anywhere in the world. There is nothing I can think of for them to improve on...quite simply, they have got it right! It is not cheap but is worth every penny. The problem was this being our first experience in NZ, we kept (unsuccessfully) looking for something similar. Please Hall and Miles expand to other places in NZ....we would go wherever you had something to offer as I am certain your other guests would! We keep telling everyone we meet to visit you at Otahuna!

Exceptional and Fabulous on every level!
Wow!! Each and every review is spot on!! This place is absolutely exceptional as well as unforgettable. Where do you begin? The staff are all amazing! Definitely want to give a shout out to Shar who was quite amused by us as well as Lucy and Nikki. The food was absolutely delicious! Thank you Zak and Jimmy! The room was stunning and comfortable. And Miles and Hall are gracious hosts! We will NEVER forget Otahuna!

OMG! You Must Come Here Just For the Food!
We recently completed a two-week luxury tour of North and South New Zealand. It was wondrous in every aspect. We stayed at the best lodges including Huka, Cape Kidnappers, Otahuna, Matakauri, and Eichardt’s private hotel. For the ultimate experience, book your trip through Marchay. Now for the review! Located thirty minutes from Christchurch, New Zealand’s second most populated city of 400,000, you come here only to stay at the Otahuna Lodge and take the Alpine train. The lodge is mostly a large home that was built in 1894 and still retains all of its charm. There are only five suites plus two off-location master suites. It’s 30 acres are stunning filled with gardens, ponds, walking bridges and exquisite swimming pool with spa. There is even a one-room treatment room which I happily took a 75-minute massage with Julia. She is 74 and one of the best. The lodge is this kind of place. Note: There is no gym but they do have a large room in which I did yoga and mats are available on request. Now for the best part: The food. Surely the best food in NZ. The full kitchen is complimented with three chefs who work tirelessly to please the very few exclusive guests. For dinner one night, we were the only guests and enjoyed a spectacular dinner. They make everything from scratch and utilize their garden for all meals. The time they take to prepare sauces, dressings, and plate presentations is crazy. Oh, they have the best brownies too. The staff is over the top from morning to night. We didn’t know where to have canopies and drinks: The library, outdoor deck, backyard poolside or exquisite dining room. Overall: Best food, best service in NZ. Off the beaten track and not situated on a river or lake. However, if you want a hospitality experience second to none, stay here.
