Reviews for Spring Creek Ranch
Let me start by saying I rarely write reviews unless it's truly warranted, good or bad. This place was by far the worst stay I have ever had in all my years of travel....and that includes dusty road trip motels in remote areas. Here's how it started: When I made the reservation 2 months in advance online, there was no confirmation email. I called to confirm they received the online reservation, they had and still did not send me a confirmation email after my request for one. They assured me they had it. The morning of arrival I called to confirm they had me down for check-in. They did....with an early check-in of noon. Great! We arrived at 4pm that day, excited to get some rest. When we arrived, the kid checking us in gave us our room key and off we went. When we opened the door to our room, it hadn't been cleaned. Our room that was supposed to be ready at noon was a pig sty. We had to go back to reception and let them know. They had to find us another room with an equally good view...but had to wait another half hour for it to be cleaned. We went to the bar and had a cocktail. I will say here, the gentleman that helped us was very classy, apologetic and helpful and gave us a room with a better view, which we appreciated. However, the manager did not once reach out to us to apologize or check to see if we were satisfied after the mishap. And no complimentary discount, beverage or meal was given. I even requested to speak to the manager, but no contact. One of the guys that cleaned our room, however did pop in to search for a key he lost. Seriously, guy? The room had zero AC which is not communicated online. The king bed was two twin beds pushed together. Did I mention this is what you get for over $400 per night? The Springhill Suites in town is FAR better than this place. The following morning, we decided to run down to the Granary for 2 breakfast burritos to go. While the wait staff was courteous enough, we waited over half an hour for 2 sub par burritos. I've had gas station burritos that were better. Oh, and some jerk parked like crap in the parking lot so people couldn't get through. Finally, we went to check out and we asked if they had an ice machine we could use to fill up our cooler. The gal up front said to bring in the cooler and their "bellman" would fill it for us. The "bellman" looked at my husband and told him to follow him with his cooler. They went into a tiny room with an ice machine and my husband was told to fill it himself because he had other stuff to do. Again, seriously guy?? I walked over to hold the door for my husband and after the guy shut the door he told me the door was locked and walked off. So...I waited thinking of everything I would say in this review as a "thank you" to the staff that was "so helpful". Get your act together people. Really! Aside, from the view, the gentleman that helped us with the room after the error, "Keith" I think, and Teresa at the bar at Granary everyone and everything else were completely and utterly terrible.

I will begin with the only redeeming thing about this resort: The Views are absolutely spectacular. The compliments end there. I will list the negatives: horrible linens and mattress, pillow cases that don't cover the whole pillow and bad, bad pillows, lamp shades coming unglued, fireplace so close to the bed, you risk a fire if you light it, cheap, cheap balcony furniture. To top it off, we we're charged a house keeping gratuity ( which we left in the room each day) at check out when we did not get house keeping two days and when we did, it was not thorough. Also charged a $10 bellman fee, again automatically added to the bill, when we gave the bellmen $12 which they did not refuse. Every Hampton Inn I have stayed at is better. We would not stay at this resort again.

This place is great! Friendly, professional staff who sorted out any issues we had, tasty food in the nearby restaurant and comfortable accommodation. The hot tub is a treat and the pool is amazing! The only weird thing, for us as South Africans and Europeans, was the lack of recycling. We had loaded all of our bottles, cans and cardboard rinsed and ready to be recycled but the cleaning staff told us they didn't do it. I enquired with the manager and he said that there were recycling facilities but that it wasn't built into the daily management of the place. For us, a strange thing not to recycle, particularly when you are on the border of protected natural areas like the national park.

Things you should know when considering Spring Creek Ranch: 1. None of the units are air-conditioned. 9/10ths of the year this would not be an issue, but if you are planning to vacation there in August as we did, you're likely to be uncomfortable. To maximize the mountain views, most windows on the units face west and there's significant heating from the afternoon sun. Checking in at 4 pm, the heat in our units (we rented two) was oppressive and unsafe for our grandchildren. Contrary to the manager's statement to another review below, we were NOT informed during the reservation process about the lack of a/c, nor is there any mention of that on the website. 2. The units are privately owned and vary considerably in interior decor, layout, updating and amenities. We rented two Spirit Dance townhomes for our family and one was "bare bones" especially for the $750/day rate, with minimal furniture, dated appliances, etc. The other unit had nice leather furniture, homey decorating, sub-zero refrigerator, etc. If you have a choice, don't let them put you in unit 3111, but 3106 was nice if somewhat dated. The bathrooms are particularly unimpressive. Our units didn't resemble the website pictures. The beds are also not consistent like you'd expect in a luxury hotel. One of our units had great beds, the other, not so much. 3. The Granary Restaurant has great views and attentive service but the menu is limited and the wine list has fewer choices than you might expect at a resort in this price range... the nicest bottle (non-Champagne) was a $150 Silver Oak (Alexander Valley - not even the Napa!) and there is no "captain's list," so while we wanted an exceptional bottle to celebrate a special occasion, there was nothing to be had. Good points: great location close to Jackson, quiet, great horseback riding next door, nice pool and spa, and attentive service. However, if we had it to do over, we'd pay an extra couple of grand to upgrade to the Four Seasons or Teton Village.

My 80 yr young Mom and Great Niece wanted a 2 hour horseback ride. We chose Spring Creek Ranch in Jackson Hole. Never did we expect to have such a fun, exciting and caring experience. The owners, wranglers and other staff were the best. Friendly, helpful and so so kind. My Mother passed out on her horse because of the heat, elevation and lack of water. Katy her wrangler, Cody, the owners, other wranglers were all very caring. Our family would like to say THANK YOU again for all your caring. Spring Creek Ranch gets 5 stars from us.
