Reviews for Lajitas Golf Resort & Spa

Unique concept, but unorganized

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This resort appears to selectively open/operate activities, reservations, businesses on the premises, etc. Pool is across the street. You have to either walk there or call for golf cart ride over to use from hotel. No elevator. Must use stairs to 2nd floor.Reservations are req’d for restaurant, but no indication on website…so guests are left with bakery/pizza place or bar/pub joint for food. Nice area to look out at the mountains & golf course. Rooms are not exactly quiet. The buildings are old western wooden-type structures of the Wild West in remote area Neat concept, but golf seems to be focus and also where locals come out to drink ….even though don’t golf. Didn’t feel property was well-managed. A number of employees could not provide insight; indicating they need training on property amenities.

Don’t Stay Here

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Stayed at the,”Ambush house”. NO housekeeping, floors were sandy throughout, NO coffee, No filters, house being built next door which workers and owners constantly blocked entrance to our facility. Paid over $1,000.00 a day for a dump. Won’t ever stay there again.

Expensive, Old, Outdated Rooms on the Gross Side

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Well, the rooms are Nothing like the photos. They were on the gross side. I never took my shoes off. Very old, Outdated rooms in an otherwise nice resort? Why? I would never go back or recommend this place because of it. It's an expensive dump. No thanks. The TV was modern—at least I can say that. Update the rooms!

Know before you go!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I recommend researching the places you choose to stay before you go. I always read the trip advisor reviews. They help greatly. Having said that I will begin by saying this is a very historic facility. It has about 6 TX National historic plaques to read about the development and purpose for the area. There are several monuments that have been saved from destruction. As a history buff this totally made my trip when I heard of the owners preservation efforts for the future of the monuments to be here at the resort. I applaud this effort and appreciate the preservation. I will be back to see further installations. Thank you for preserving our American history!!!! There are several new and old buildings & rooms one can choose to stay in. From new condos, two home rentals, a main hotel and the old restored Calvary post which we stayed in. Charming, comfortable and adequate for my friend and I to enjoy the space indoor and out. There were settling cracks but it added to the charm of staying in a historic place. The sink is on the outside of the bathroom which made getting ready in the am a bit cumbersome. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The soaps, towels and lotions are average hotel bulk fare. The restaurants and amenities available were awesome. However they lack a dog sitter or off-site kennel/boarding. We had a wonderful stay with the exception of a barking dog and my mistake of reserving a 2nd floor room for my handicap friend and I. The check in was pleasant even thou I needed to upgrade my room. The main hotel does not have an elevator. The front desk staff was exceptional. They were completely accommodating even after I had lost my cool about a barking dog. Not the hotels fault BUT if your going to allow pets with all of these activities and a policy not to leave the dog in the room unattended there needs to be more offerings for pet owners in a desert resort of this stature or just not allow pets. I gave a 5 even thou there were challenges with our stay but all in all, I loved the connivence of the restaurants on site, the near by grocery/gas station, the beautifully manicured gardens and grounds, the views the activities offered and relaxing spaces to hang out. As far as the price I felt it was the going rate for the area. The accommodations in the area are expensive and are mostly air b n b’s. Not what I’m looking for on vacation. I want to be taken care of. This resort earned a 5 because they took care of us with exceptional staff, on/off site activities and good food.

Couples vs Couples

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Me and my husband got together with a few friends/couples and played 4 rounds of golf in a amazing weather on a very competitive but yet fun golf course. I hate to mention it but me and my husband came out on top. Great option for lunch on ground and would recommend Lajitas to anyone looking to up their golf game.
