Considered by many one of the best hotels of its kind in the country, Whiteface Lodge is nestled in Adirondack Park. This six-million-acre recreation area in upstate New York has drawn nature lovers for decades.

Beautiful property and rooms. However, for spending over $600 for one night, it was thoroughly not worth it. I advise if you are a couple or adult looking for a weekend away, do not choose this hotel. The amount of kids here was insane. Couldn't even go to the hot tub because the entire area was flooded with children splashing everyone. Then while sitting in my room, all I could hear was the kids playing hockey above us (yea we heard their parents talking about it at the bar-great parenting). If you're looking for a couples winter away, choose another upscale hotel in the area. Highly recommend mirror lake inn.

I had a wonderful getaway with my daughter at the Whiteface Lodge! The staff, service, accommodations, amenities, and restaurants were all top notch! Thank you for a perfect stay!

If you have never been to the Whiteface Lodge, you will see its beauty without understanding all that it has lost. The fireplaces are a major contributor to the atmosphere and none of them were lit on our last visit. It’s getting run down and this was a drink served to us at the bar. For $19. When we pointed out that it’s actually half a drink, our server argued with us and then the bartender filled the glass with whipped cream. There is no longer a feeling of comfort and abundance here- it is now feeling cold, corporate and penny pinching. Not good.

I sent this email to white face management several days ago with no response so I will post it here. Dear Whiteface Lodge Management, I am writing to express our deep disappointment with our recent stay. We have been loyal guests of Whiteface Lodge for more than eight years, visiting two to three times per year, and have stayed with you over fifteen times. Unfortunately, our last few visits—especially this most recent one—have fallen far below the standard we have always known and appreciated. Firstly, upon checking into our room, we were extremely disappointed to find that the bathrooms were not properly cleaned. There was visible urine on the toilet from the previous guest, which is simply unacceptable for any hotel. During our three-night stay, (Dec 3-6) the main hot tub was out of service every single day. What makes this particularly frustrating is that the same issue occurred during our winter stay in 2024, at which time we were assured that this would not happen again—and that, should it ever occur, we would be notified prior to our arrival. No such notice was given. When reading recent google reviews, someone mentioned TWO weeks prior to our stay that the hot tub was not working. While we understand that there is a secondary hot tub available, it is extremely small and consistently overcrowded. Despite it being labeled as an adult-only hot tub, it was filled with children every time we checked. We informed the front desk of this issue daily, yet nothing changed. We also asked for updates via text or phone call on the hot tub status, but received zero notifications. Additionally, throughout our stay there was not a single fireplace lit anywhere in the lodge. Given that temperatures were in the negatives, this made the entire lodge feel unwelcoming and uncomfortably cold. I asked the front desk each day if the fires could be lit and was repeatedly told they were “waiting for clearance.” For a property known for its cozy atmosphere, this significantly impacted our experience. To add to this, the heated floors in our bathroom did not work. While we have come to expect this—since they have not worked during any of our stays over the past years—it is still disappointing for a resort of this price point and reputation. For the cost of staying at Whiteface Lodge, we expect the fireplaces to be burning, the hot tubs to be operational, and basic room amenities—such as heated bathroom floors, and clean bathrooms—to function properly. We choose Whiteface Lodge over Lake Placid Lodge or Mirror Lake Inn because of these amenities. But we found ourselves, every morning, going to Mirror Lake to sit in front of their always-lit wood burning fireplace. We have always considered this lodge a special place, but our last three stays have left us extremely disheartened. We hope this message reaches the appropriate leadership and that these concerns are taken seriously. We truly want to continue returning in the future, but these ongoing issues need to be addressed for the comfort and satisfaction of longtime guests like us. Thank you for your time and attention.

First of all the resort has great potential if it gets a refresh. I was disappointed that none of the indoor wood fireplaces could be used because of code failure from the previous year. they had a whole year to fix. one of the hot tubs was broken and everyone was in the small one which didn't have enough water in it. the outdoor area where you walk was not heated so it was freezing and snow was accumulating. there is also no shuttle to downtown you have to drive. i can't imagine during ski season and you have to drive yourself to the mountain. when we stay downtown they have a public ski shuttle.
