Needs a few improvements, but still a wonderful destination. You will enjoy your stay. Surprised by the number of children staying. Becomes impossible to use the pool. There is one hot tub for adults only. Rooms are nice, but do not have adequate light to even read by. Be sure to bring a reading light. Three bedroom suite had only one hairdryer and the refrigerator freezer does not have ice.

Everything we hoped it would be. An excellent place to relax, unwind, and enjoy much needed time off. Close to several appealing local attractions, but not so close we felt bombarded with tourist traffic. The amenities were fantastic and kept the kids entertained when we wanted to sit down and have a casual conversation and meal.

This was a serendipitous road trip, and our stay here was hugely relaxing and satisfying. We visited during the shoulder season. The skiers and winter vacationers were long gone, and summer hikers and outdoors people were not there yet. This was the season of snowmelt, with waterfalls gushing down the side of the highway as we drove into Lake Placid, and rivers and streams full of roaring white water. As a result, the town and the lodge was sparsely booked. This meant that we rarely encountered other guests. At times we had the pool and spa area all to ourselves. An unexpected perk that made our visit even more relaxing was that, on a mid-week night, even though this is probably a great place for families, there were no children running around and making noise. The sauna and steam room are immaculately maintained and relaxing. We had fog and rain during our visit, but it didn't matter that much. The staff maintains the property with an outdoor fire pit even in the slow season. This provided ambience and a woodsy, wood-fire smell on the grounds in the early evening. The bar and restaurant were pretty slow on the night we stayed there, so the restaurant was closed and there was not much going on in the lounge. We visited town instead and found a local place to eat. Everyone on staff was super friendly and helpful.

We went away for a girls' weekend after finding this place on Groupon. We were so happily impressed by the service, the cleanliness, the overall peacefulness and luxury of this resort. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Our only drawback is that it was so far away, so we can't go more often!!!

Beautiful place but jetted tub was disgusting. They need to figure a better way to ensure it gets properly disinfected. Loved the ambience of Whiteface Lodge. While it was quiet there, no valet service were outside. I had to check in and request valet and baggage service before anyone came out. The desk staff were very courteous and friendly at check in but as we came and left throughout our stay, no one at the desk greeted us. In fact, it appeared that they would look down as to avoid saying good morning or good evening. Not a big deal but we travel a lot and Staff is normally very friendly and attentive. This was not the case at the Whiteface Lodge.
