Reviews for Estancia Cristina Lodge
the most amazing place! the area is stunningly beautiful, the staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, and the food was outstanding. we loved every minute that we were there, and were very sad to leave. horseback riding was magical, the 9.5 mile guided hike was so much fun, the rooms were perfect. I can honestly find not one complaint about my experience at Estancia Cristina
Excellent accomodation for such a remote location. Exellent staff. Well trained. Good food. Outstanding horses and gauchos to support you. Exceptional landscape. The season does have an impact on how comfortable you feel.

I stayed at Estancia Cristina for 2 nights as part of a work familiarization trip, which was part of a wider Argentina and Chile exploration trip. I work for a travel company so was keen to investigate this intriguing place. From the moment I stepped on the boat from Punta Banderas, I was warmly welcomed and shown to my reserved seat onboard the ferry. The 3 hour journey to Estancia Cristina was an experience in itself. The Upsala Glacier was a fantastic sight to witness and the iceberg nearby was wonderful - great for some initial photo opportunities. Upon arrival at the Estancia I was made to feel instantly welcome and at home. The staff at the Estancia could not do enough to make the guests feel more welcome. they all made the effort to chat and to learn your name. They all spoke very good English, though I did my best to try and practice my Spanish while I was there. The food was simply amazing, fresh, varied and very traditional, making the best of fresh local ingredients. There was always a great menu to choose from and some wonderful wine, beers and cocktails to go with them. The packed lunches supplied for the days trips were also excellent, always with the choice of a hot lunch instead in the restaurant if your trip was short and didn't take up the whole day. The guides were fabulous, extremely passionate about the Estancia, very knowledgeable and great company during the day trips. The 4x4 trip to the glacier and hike back to the Estancia was brilliant, with varying terrain and amazing fossils to see. The horseriding was also great. I had not been on a horse in about 15 years, so was pretty much a beginner, but the horses were calm, patient and knew exactly what to do, so it's certainly worth having a go even if you aren't a regular rider. There are also some lovely little self guided routes you can do on your own, all of which are very interesting. Fishing opportunities are also great at the right time of the year when the salmon arrive in their droves. The rooms themselves were perfect, lovely decor, comfy beds and included a much appreciated jug of water each night. They boasted wonderful views of the mountains and had a great selection of toiletries within the bathroom. There are not many places on earth you feel completely remote, but at Estancia Cristina I had a wonderful feeling of escapism and in the end it was very sad to leave. I shall certainly be back.
