Morgan's Rock in Playa Ocotal, Nicaragua
A suspension bridge cuts 150 feet through thick rainforest vegetation filled with howler monkeys and three-toed sloths to connect Morgan's Rock to the outside world. Built on cliffs overlooking a private cove, bungalows in this nature-centric conclave are spacious and rustically sumptuous. Managua-based Simplemente Madera constructed certified-sustainable furniture from local hardwood, and native artist Augusto Silva honors Tunu culture in his colorful paintings. Relish an early morning yoga session at a beachfront pavilion and a solar-powered hot shower to end the day.
Sip a cup of coffee on your balcony surrounded by the creature calls of the rainforest. Spot a florescent parakeet darting through the canopy. Go for a quiet hike or raise your adrenaline by kayaking the estuary. Visit the organic farm and help harvest your dinner's ingredients. Learn to make tortillas with the resident cook. Watch a stunning sunset from a cliffside vantage point.

Reviews for Morgan's Rock
We spent 6 glorious days at Morgans rock over July 4th- we were 4 adults and 2 9 year olds and there was more than enough to do-'in fact we have to go back as we simply couldn't do it all, even with almost a week there. Where to start.. all 6 of us stayed in the newly built villa 3. Incredible view of Morgans rock- over 100 stairs, but well worth it for the views, though villa one is close to restaurant and I'm sure is also wonderful. A few highlights: staff are wonderful- sunset cruise was magical, surfing, yoga, zip line, spa and just hanging in the hammock listening to the waves hit Morgans rock.. nothing beats sleeping in a wonderful bed after a full day at the beach and being awoken by howler monkeys- Morgans is truly one of the best places I have ever vacationed- few tips: if you want to explore off campus, rent a car as their transport service is really expensive- I would skip the snorkel trip- though we did see mating turtles from the boat, there are no reefs, so it's nothing like snorkeling on the Carribean side.. if you are thinking of Nicaragua, you have to go to Morgans rock!

We were 7 family members who spent two nights July 12-14th, 2017 at Morgan's Rock.. We loved the freedom of being one with nature and hearing the surf at night. Our ocean view bungalows were perfect and we truly loved the experience. The hammocks next to the beach made our day go by smoothly. Also, we were very happy and impressed with our night waiter- Roberto -who took extra good care of us and ensured that we all had the food as we requested.. my elder parents were so happy with his professional and sociable manner and this made them feel at home. One night we requested typical Nicaraguan food and Bosco was very accommodating and the next night we ate the best food ever (thanks Bosco)!! Roberto brought the two chefs for us to thank them for such a great tasty meal.. The hotel staff really goes out of their way to ensure that you as a guest are satisfied and having a good time!

Beautiful hotel perfect to relax and have a great time with your couple or family !!! Delicious food and a variety of different activities to do !!! Imposible to get bored!!! Perfect to rest and enjoy the beach.
This place was beyond amazing. Had to slap ourselves several times to make sure we were not dreaming. It was very remote and the drive in was long, but once we arrived, we immediately forgot the journey and relished in the destination. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, the staff were so wonderful and attentive. We especially appreciated our waiter, Francisco (labeled "Frank"), who helped arrange special vegetarian dinners for us. Our bungalow #8 was phenomenal. The view of Playa Ocotal from our bed was mind boggling. We were provided with turn down service every evening. The beach was perfect. There were towels, a beach bar, and a mile of private beach (with Wi-Fi, no less). One of the best things was seeing the resident howler monkeys up close (enough) from our room. There are a lot of steps to climb and a suspension bridge to cross, so be prepared to get your cardio workout done. Also, you might want to bring some snacks for your room. There is nothing in the area. Our room was huge and had an awesome deck with a hammock-bed outside and a deck with a futon inside. The walls are screens, so it feels like you're sleeping in nature. So comfortable. Meal prices are on the high side. We opted for "a la carte" dining since we are vegetarians, otherwise meal plans are available. The food is creative, delicious, organic, and locally sourced. We filled up on the fresh breakfasts, which are included!

Our stay at Morgan's Rock last August was heavenly. Our cabin, a treehouse overlooking the beautiful private beach, was unbelievably comfortable and our views were unbeatable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Crossing the hanging bridge from the restaurant and lobby to our cabin was an adventure, especially in the evening, accompanied by howler monkeys all the way.
