Luxury in the middle of nowhere

I was a member of a group of 14 who stayed at the Cascades Island Lodge. There were individual cottages for each couple/single. Meals were served in the dining area. The lodge is located along the river so a magnificent setting for a visit. Our hostess, Tracy, made sure everything was right. For those wanting to be enjoy luxury in the wild, this is clearly the place.

Great place for refreshing your soul

Great stay at this fantastic place located on a peaceful island. Surrounded by water, overlooking a flowing river, we could watch the hippos play in front of us. The sound of water is SO relaxing. The transfers by boat enabled us to see plenty of bird life. The staff is so kind and helpful. The food was great. In summary : FAN TAS TIC !

Peaceful

We stayed here as part of a group and were very well cared for by the staff on this small islet which is separate to the main island. A good place to be a castaway. Individual accommodations have all the space and facilities you could wish for - but lighting in bathroom a bit gloomy. Good excuse not to shave. Beware tripping on low plinth surrounding bed. Sundowners in the main lounge or on the deck very relaxing. Nice wines. Food good, but a bit "curate's egg." Very enjoyable day out to Chobe national park and on Chobe river. Lots of game. Visit to main island village and school led by our very able guide Lennon.

Wonderful holiday.

After a wonderful boat trip to the Cascade Lodge we were met by the gracious and helpful manager,Sam. He showed us around and was always available if we needed his help. Stephen the chef and Lydia his assistant fed and served us with marvellous meals in the most stunning setting overlooking the Zambezi. Lennon our boat driver and guide took us fishing (I caught my first Tiger fish) and on a game viewing excursion to Chobe. All very professionally managed, very informative and lots of fun. Thank you to the team for a wonderful holiday...we'll be back.

tranquility at its best

A travel by boat up the Kassia channel into the Zambezi river brings you to more river with hippos and crocs so it appeared. The boat stopped and our driver informed us we were three minutes away from our destiny, I looked around but saw no buildings, no telltale indication of habitation so where was our home for the next couple if days? We followed a channel through the reeds and soon drifted up to a jetty with a handful of smiling people waiting for our arrival, Our bags were taken from us and we were led along a fascinating floating raft come pathway to the lodge, and what a place it is beautifully layed out with decking over the Zambezi river tables and comfy chairs, the interior with a lovely lounge with tea and cake ready for us to enjoy. After settling down we were taken to our rooms which blew us away, huge comfy bed with sliding doors opening out to our own little pool and beyond again a view of the Zambezi river. The bathroom with sliding doors out into the open, lovely bright space with huge bath abd shower, double basin shaped like Makoro canoes and everything needed to make you feel at home and fresh. If you so wish there is a shower outside in the open as well but fear not there is no one to see you, its all yours. The service and staff are on hand anytime offering you everything you need. If you need to know anything about the wildlife, Crispos and the Rafael know the intimate detail and are willing to help. Rafael was our boat driver. Crispos is the Manager. All I can say is try it out, what an experience. Brett and Jacqui joined us on the second day which enhanced the experience. The food? fantastic, everything is cooked fresh even the bread is baked on the island which is so lovely.
