I booked a room as a Christmas gift/birthday present for my daughter and her significant other through Travelzoo. I have always been pleased with Travelzoo and typically trust their judgement of facilities. This package, which I booked Oct. 22, 2017 (for a weekend stay)(Jan. 13-15) was booked THREE MONTHS in advance and the paperwork specifically stated a KING suite. I purposely booked this far out as my daughter and her partner need as much advance notice with their jobs for a free weekend off and also happened to be my daughter's birthday weekend. When they arrived and checked in at The Lodge, they were put into a Queen suite, NO TV and construction RIGHT next to their room. (The construction noise, they were told, should end by 5:00 PM.) I received a video from my daughter at 5:45 PM with the construction noise still loud and clear. Although this was booked THREE MONTHS in advance, they were told there was nothing they could do, the Lodge was fully booked and they would not be able to move anyone else who may have just booked a few weeks ago. With a nonchalant attitude, the front desk said they would have to contact the owner, who happened to be enjoying his private residence in Hawaii. They came back with ONE option that was completely preposterous. To check out and come back another weekend for a free night. REALLY? They must be kidding!!! To come back another weekend?? This is NOT an option; we will NOT be given a credit because it was booked through a 3rd party and would we really want to come back to this place...promised a King, given a queen and NO TV??? Not to mention the construction...front desk says, "Oh, sorry, you should have gotten an e mail from us stating there would be construction that weekend RIGHT next to your room so if you'd like to book another weekend..." Well, I'm sorry too because we NEVER received such an e mail! This was FAR from a relaxing getaway. Terrible attitudes, terrible service, unwilling to be more flexible to accommodate guests WHEN THE ESTABLISHMENT WAS IN THE WRONG. BEWARE especially if you book through a 3rd party. A VERY expensive weekend for a lot of grief and aggravation.

I booked a one month stay at the Lodge to follow the Gerson-like protocol for a chronic illness. I was already familiar with the Gerson plan (having followed it on my own in the past) and can say the lodge was excellent in their juice, food and coffee enema preparations. Staff and doctors were all super friendly and supportive while being mindful of each person's healing journey and needs. By this I mean it felt completely okay to "be" how you were feeling, so if you didn't feel well and didn't want to engage with staff it was okay and when you did they were open and friendly. The place was very clean and my room and bed very comfortable. I was assigned my own doctor who set-up a plan specific to me and was modified as needed. I met with a doctor every day. All the doctors were respectful, knowledgeable and caring. There were activities scheduled each day both in the afternoon and evenings if you wanted contact with others but could miss them if you wanted to be alone. They had available health videos that were very informative, fun-feel-good movies, books and games. The on-site labyrinth was a great tool for working through the emotions that can come up during a time of healing. I recommend a session with Linda who is an amazing healer and cool person. There is also a dry sauna and exercise room. There is also a free weekly laundry service. The property is not expansive and the walking trails can barely be called that, but when you aren't feeling well and have a juice every hour there isn't much time for long walks. However, if you do want to go off site the place is minutes away from the main strip and a proper Sedona hiking trail is within walking distance (but a good long walking distance) or a short drive. Within a 15 minute walk you can visit several shops in the area and take a short cab ride to local tourist places like Uptown and Tlaquepaque market. The surprises were the unexpected costs that were not disclosed at the time of booking. Among the long list was a $10 thermometer and a $?? hot water bottle. I could have easily packed these items and brought them from home, and payed for in Canadian dollars too! I understand they don't know what treatments might be recommended but everyone takes their temperature there daily. I suggest asking them for the price list so you can decide what you might want to bring yourself, including supplements or socks for wet sock treatments. If you don't use them you can take them home and return them. Saving money here means you can spend it on other treatments. Other people I spoke to there were uninformed of these costs too so it wasn't just an oversight in my case. Supplements & treatments aren't included in the price of stay so knowing the costs in advance means you can budget for them. In my case, had I known of the additional costs I might have reduced my stay by one week so I could afford the treatments and suggested supplements. Then again I might not have but it would have been nice to be given the choice. Another surprise was sharing the facility with B&B guests not on the plan. Smelling coffee in the mornings and seeing their yummy breakfasts was tough some days. I highly recommend this place for either a pleasure or healing stay.

The Lodge was a great escape from the city. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The other guests that were there were very nice and had some nice conversations with them. The staff was very helpful and organized a sedona jeep tour while we were there. We stayed here over our 5th anniversary, and wanted to find a special place. Well we found it here. This place was very interesting with all the other services and packages that they offer. We might be coming back to take you up on your health holiday package. The food there smelled amazing and the breakfast was delicious. The rooms were well kept and clean, and I loved walking the large outdoor labyrinth. Thanks for the great stay.

We came here for an escape and overall wellness. We have been looking for a place that we can come and have some wonderful organic meals, some juices and get a massage. We signed up for their health holiday package that allowed us to do what we wanted, go explore Sedona and get a great healthy escape. We were able to schedule a few massages as well as partake in a few other activities that they had. After staying for 5 days, we both felt a lot better, less brain fog and renewed health to take us into the new year feeling better, stronger and healthier. Thanks for the great and relaxing stay.

The Sedona Wellness Retreat at the Lodge at Sedona was a perfect place for me to stay to relax and heal. Staff was amazing and can help with many types of dietary and health improvements. Many educational activities are available and guest interaction is encouraged. the kind of place where you feel comfortable walking around in your slippers and not locking your door. Chris B
