Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie, Washington

Overlooking the majestic Snoqualmie Falls in Washington state, Salish Lodge & Spa is a taste of pure Pacific Northwest. This 84-room resort is a luxury retreat in an iconic destination, originally built as a small inn in 1916, and today standing as a modern lodge paradise in the most superb of settings. All of the thoughtfully designed guest rooms offer oversize jetted bathtubs, private fireplaces and - most of all - a warm, inviting ambiance. Feather down comforters, custom artwork and private balconies add the special touches that make your time at Salish Lodge & Spa so memorable, and many rooms offer views of the Snoqualmie River. Stay connected with your room's flat-panel television, wireless Internet access, and iPod dock, or choose to turn off the world and indulge in a lavender mint bubble bath instead. It's up to you. The resort offers a full fitness center as well as daily vinyasa yoga classes, replete with view of the falls, should you be looking to further increase your inner peace.

The award-winning Spa at Salish Lodge breathes an air of relaxation into you from the moment you arrive and inhale the fresh aroma of cedar and eucalyptus. Relax in the dry sauna, steam room, or therapeutic pools before your treatment, then allow the skilled therapists to massage you into a world of relaxation. The resort also hosts a truly unique feature that adds to your stay indirectly - honeybees. What started with a small four-hive collection on the hillside in 2011 is now a fully maintained apiary that produces 2,400 pounds of honey each year. The bees pollinate 80% of the resort's flowering crops, which in turn are used at the restaurants to provide delicious and fresh fare. From the herb garden to the 800-square-foot organic vegetable garden, Salish Lodge & Spa utilizes an abundance of its own farming to nourish you at mealtime. The Dining Room is the main venue of choice for a memorable meal in a picturesque setting, offering Northwest cuisine and refined cooking techniques. Grab a casual meal at The Attic, which serves up wood-fired pizzas with housemade mozzarella, and handcrafted sandwiches to get you through an afternoon of exploring the outdoors. At Salish Lodge & Spa, you are very much an integral part of the land, all the more enhancing an already memorable experience.

So, I phoned for a reservation and inquired about using the Spa, after all the Hotel charges a facility fee (note not a resort fee) of $19 per day and was told that the Spa is NOT available for guests unless you have a treatment. Understand this: you must get a facial or massage to use the hot tube/sauna!!!! Apparently the $19 a day is for WiFi and water in your room! This seemed unreasonable and my desire to stay there evaporated quickly. Beware of this place, it ain't what it used to be.

The spa is not worth the money. I took a friend to the spa on Sunday for a bit of a splurge. Really expensive and tremendously disappointing. The facial was fine, nothing more, but this other "body scrub" treatment they offered was pathetic. $140 for some dude to rub your skin with a loofah. No product, no hot towels, nothing. The steam room wasn't working and the dry sauna wasn't heated up. And there was construction blocking most of the view from the changing room. The staff must get a lot of complaints as well because we were pointedly NOT asked how everything was, just had our credit cards swiped (not before the spa goes ahead and adds 20% for the staff to your bill) and were given the bum's rush out.

This lodge and spa sits at the top snoqualmie falls, was decorated for the holidays, and gave off such an elegant but nostalgic vibe. We didn't stay overnight, but enjoyed a hot chocolate after hiking the fall trail, and shopped their quaint gift shop. They've got some terrific local photography on the walls and it's a popular wedding venue. It's on my bucket list for a weekend getaway for sure!

Trip was jinxed from the start I guess as we used casino points for the room. Might as well have been from Mars. Jetted tub didn't work and could not be fixed for our stay. Fireplace smoked the room several hours after we burned the fake log we had in the room. Room overlooked the construction area and dumpster. Other issues but that's enough. It was a wasted trip. Won't go back for sure.......Very much no value for the price. Not even close.

I celebrated my 60th with a body buff and then a perfect massage. Excellent service, especially my massage! Oh Boy! I was on cloud nine in Zen world!!!!! the only thing is the tip should be included in the price 20% for each service. But it was a birthday gift so I won't complain.
