Reviews for The Lodge at Spruce Peak

Not busy, not "season"

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

A beautiful lodge nestled at the base of Stowe Mountain. It looks like the resort has much to offer, when "in season" however, after the lifts close, so does everything at the resort. With only one restaurant open we were not able to experience all of the amenities, the rooms were spotless and the in-room soaking tub a nice respite!

Easter weekend

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Hotel has changed since it was purchased by Hyatt. It feels less inviting. It was always hot coco, fires and meeting new people. It’s not the place I remember from before Covid. Best place to ski on the east coast though. Will go back hoping this trip was regrettably unique.

Convenient, Great Location, Picturesque

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Terrific family ski vacation. We went mid-week. I can see how things can get crowded on weekends and holidays, but mid-week was great! Lovely hotel with large common areas and log ski lodge look. Location is perfect. Right in the middle of a small ski village with shops and restaurants, walkable to ski lifts and free gondola (Over Easy; no ticket needed) to the other mountain/lifts. Beautiful views from the hotel. Large outdoor heated pool with small indoor entry portion. Two large hot tubs. Lots of towels and many cubbies to store personal items while you swim. Recommend using the complementary hotel robe (in room) to walk to and from the pool. There is the option for self park and valet at the hotel. Apparently, valet parking was the cheaper and easier option, which we did. Not sure where the self parking lot is in relation to the hotel. We stayed in a Timberline Studio. It was surprisingly spacious. The bathroom was very large with two sinks, a separate toilet room, hairdryer, a deep soaking tub, and a roomy shower with great pressure and heat. King bed was comfortable but blanket was thin so requested an extra one. Pullout sofa bed was for the kids; they were happy but it was not the most comfortable. We were at street level with a view of the slopes. Although a road outside our room, it was not bad. Heavy curtains were helpful (also helped reduce draft). Small private patio outside room. Gas fireplace was great and worked well on a timer. Furnishings a bit worn but clean. Kitchenette in room was adequate. Mini-fridge was not super cold. Two gas burners. Large microwave, toaster, full-sized coffee maker. Pots, pans, silverware, mugs, glasses, and kettle in room. Also a small dishwasher. Bags of coffee and tea in room. Two comfy robes in the closet which were helpful for going to/from the pool. In-room safe was broken and not useable. Hotel game room was great for kids. The pool table and air hockey table were free for use. An assortment of video games and prize games with purchase of a game card. Didn’t use it, but heard that the hotel has a ski valet available to store skis and boots. We used overnight storage at the rental place next to the slopes and stored our boots in the room. Overall, a great experience. Didn’t have to access the car, enough to do in the Village at Spruce Peak. Additionally, there is a free bus with multiple stops along Mountain Road (with inns and restaraunts) if you want to do some local exploring.

Terrible communication at Spruce Peak Lodge

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My husband and i booked a 4 night stay here. The communication was terrible and service non-existent from the staff. The safe in our room was broken We made 4 requests for it to be fixed. It never was. The housekeeping experience was poor. Service never showed up until 5 or 6 each evening. The worst was that they charged us for a 6 nights stay when we were only there for 4. The process to correct this mistake was slow and painful. No one at the front desk knew what to do. I still am not sure if the bill is correct. That being said we like the location next to the slopes. The food was average in the restaurants. We liked the Whistle Pig Pavilion the best.

Epic ski trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The hotel from start to finish was amazing. You arrive and they unpack the car. Take your skis to ski valet and check you in quickly. There is a beautiful swim out heated pool and hot tubs. In the morning when you're ready to ski you bring your boots down to the ski valet boot up and your skis are outside waiting for you in alphabetical order. it is literally a three minute walk to the lift! It is a game changer in my mind, and they will see me soon. All food on property was delicious and service was outstanding.
