It's never fun to write a negative review, but I have to say that much to my shock, the $400 per night Teton Mountain Lodge and Spa was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. Having spent the last 15 years traveling many weeks a year, that's a lot of basis for comparison! After booking a room with a king-sized bed and a small suite, we showed up exhausted after a long drive. Check-in was fine and then we're given the keys to our room. We walk into the "suite" which is basically just a large room with a kitchenette and a couch and chair. That's completely fine, it's not fancy but we're not looking for fancy - just clean and comfortable. There are several doors leading out of the room and I assume one must lead to the bedroom. Nope. Closet, room next door and bathroom. At this point, we realize that our bed option is a "double" Murphy bed that folds down from the wall with a mattress the thickness of one pillow. Visiting the front desk, I'm told the hotel is sold out and this is the room I booked. I'm clearly looking at my reservation which lists a king-sized bed. There was other availability in the area, but the hotel wasn't willing to give us a refund, and at the price point mentioned above, paying double for accommodation for one night before heading onto Yellowstone wasn't an option. Needless to say, we didn't sleep and couldn't get out of there early enough. The icing on the cake was housekeeping coming back and pounding on the door before 8AM despite a do not disturb sign. Sometimes you have a bad experience in an otherwise great place, or something goes wrong that's beyond the control of the hotel. This wasn't my experience here and my best recommendation would be to stay literally anywhere but here. As a frequent traveler to Jackson Hole and Teton Village, I'm really disappointed at what should have been a terrific stay.

Staff and the hotel were top notch. Restaurant was excellent with chef quality meals, hotel was kept up perfectly, everyone was a professional and interested in customer service. Yes the prices are premium, but this isn't Howard Johnson. We were very happy with the value we got.

We loved our stay here in a spacious 2 bedroom/2 bath suite (full kitchen, large living area, all well appointed). This was our last stop on a 2 week trip through the national parks and it was refreshing to finally get to a luxury property. It was also great (really a necessity) to have access to the double sets of stacked, coin operated (front desk is happy to make change for quarters) washer/dryers located at the end of the hall. When we arrived, there was no bellman so we grabbed a cart and unloaded ourselves. He did appear in time to take the luggage to our rooms. When we departed, there was also no sign of a bellman either (we did not call the front desk for assistance). The large parking lot directly across the street was super convenient (and free). Dinner at Spur was ok (menu is small which was disappointing and slightly pricey). The Spa was terrific. We would definitely stay here again.

Teton Village was a really pleasant surprise on our road trip in June and we stayed 2 nights at the TML. it was lovely hotel and clearly a ski resort hotel but we thought the décor and facilities were excellent. The weather was a little cool to enjoy the outdoor pool but the indoor pol was very nice and we did have an early evening drink in the rooftop hot tub - we had to ourselves for best part of an hour and with the sun out and clear skies it was stunning. we had a studio room on the ground floor just off the lobby (122). it had a small patio which overlooked the front of the hotel and the mountains behind but did mean we had to consider the curtains for getting changed etc! it was also quite dark in the room. we had the pull down bed which was not the most comfortable but it was OK and the rest of room was well furnished if a little tight on space. it was very clean and we had a huge bathroom. this was an expensive stay and the only place on our trip which didn't include breakfast, drinks were pricey too but we went out to eat and bought stuff for breakfast and in fairness the prices for the hotel seemed in kilter with everywhere else. the staff were helpful and the only downside to the hotel was the noise - the giant fridge in our room seemed to make lots of noise through the night coupled with the air conditioning and on the second night hubby had to go to the lobby at about 4am to complain about the music being played in the lobby - it was really loud and carried to our room - it appeared to be some automatic system which they were able to turn off eventually. So not the best nights' sleep but it was a lovely place, walkable to everything in the village and very handy for Grand Teton and to go into Jackson. I'd recommend it.

So in short I had a great stay here. It's right on the mountain near the tram, has a lovely outdoor and indoor pool / hot tub, and my room was great. No complaints. Are there nicer properties in the area? Sure but just go to those hotels for drinks and food and stay here. This place is great and gets a recommendation from me. It's definitely a 4 star kind of hotel. Also just a note I stayed in a studio. I was worried at first about a Murphy bed but it was perfect - no need to pay for a regular room. My room size rivaled normal hotel room sizes. Recommended.
