Truly one the gems of Puerto Vallarta, Barcelona Tapas is a great restaurant for celebrations or romance. Although the several flights of stairs can be a deterrent for those with limited mobility, the climb is worth it for a stunning view of Banderas Bay. The tapas, or small plates, are delectable. You should not miss the Aioli Potato Salad or Stacked Roasted Beets for veggie dishes or the Angus Beef Brochette and Garlic Shrimp for meat-eaters. They are also well-known for the paella and their sangria. Everything on the menu, from the bread to the ice cream is made in-house in the open kitchen. This is a "don't miss!"

Puerto Vallarta, rapidly emerging as one of the finest art centers in Mexico, is home to scores of acclaimed local and international artists who display their work locally and worldwide. Each year dozens of these artists open their home and studio doors to tours so art lovers can have the unique experience of seeing an artist hard at work. During the tour, the artists encourage visitors to ask questions about their work and allow you to experience, first hand, the artistic process and methods that goes into each piece. Some of the artists conduct classes in their studios, on a very limited basis. The four-hour guided tours typically include three to five studio visits. The artists for each tour vary but rest assured that they are hand-chosen and organized by your knowledgeable guide, Garry Thompson, owner of the Galeria Pacifica. Garry an avid art enthusiast, and likes nothing more than sharing his passion for art and knowledge of the artists you will meet. The Artists Studio tours are available only on Mondays and run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Reservations are required as space is limited. read more about Artist Studio Tours

Art Walks Downtown

Art Walks Downtown

Puerto Vallarta is on its way to becoming one of Mexico's most important artist enclaves, representing some of Mexico's finest artists as well as international artists who now call this seaside paradise home. Already, Puerto Vallarta can claim bragging rights for having more galleries than any other Mexican seaside destination, and each year the numbers increase. The Old Town Art Walk kicks off the "Art Season" at the end of October, and runs through the end of May each year. This event, which began in 1996 with only a handful galleries, has become a much-anticipated favorite for both tourists and locals. Every season brings a few changes, but typically, fifteen to twenty galleries throw open their doors one evening each week, inviting art lovers to visit for free cocktail art expositions. Most of the galleries are located in the historic center, and within easy walking distance from each other and the main plaza. There is no fee for this event and free Art Walk brochures and gallery maps are available in most hotels, tourist information booths and restaurants. read more about Art Walks Downtown
