Multi-award winning Jaso is set in the heart of Polanco, and is run by American trained chefs Sonia Arias (pastries) and executive chef Jared Reardon. Their restaurant follows a strict "word of mouth only" marketing strategy, which also means the place has no sign, and is not listed. Yet since its opening, this little treasure has remained a popular spot for any epicurian in the city. The influences are clearly American with a slight French fusion and they specialize in a 5 or 9 dish tasting menu which is costumised for each costumer. They dinning experience is unique not just due to its costumised format, but also due to the tasteful surrounds' two levels, an inner garden, a stunning outside terrace, and particular attention on stimulation all 5 senses. Likewise Jaso has had several accolades for their wine list which includes over 450 different labels. All staff are qualified to suggest the perfect bottle for your meal. Jaso, like most of its surrounding neighbourhood of Polanco, is expensive. read more about Jaso

Bambuco

Bambuco

  • Costera Miguel Alemán 75
  • Interior Hotel Elcano
  • tel:(+52) 744 - 435 1500

  • Acapulco, 39690

The atmosphere in this terrace restaurant -- famous for its Sunday lunchtime paella -- is unbeatable, with courteous service, very good food, quality tablecloths, and yet also allowances made for children running back and forth between the pool to your table. Worth making a day of it, as one of the few places which is both elegant and relaxing (no loud music!) Your children will have fun in the pool and are at a comfortable distance (so they do not bother you or other diners), but still close enough for you to watch them. The location just on the edge of Condesa beach means you are shielded from peddlars, but can still look at the waves, and take a dip in the ocean as well. During the day on the open terrace you can wear a bikini covered with a sarong or summer dress, or, for men, swimming shorts with a nice cotton shirt, and sandals. However, if you are dining under the roof, you will want to be more formally dressed. To get here, arrive at the Hotel Elcano and walk straight through the beautiful retro lobby towards the sea. The restaurant is down the steps to the right. read more about Bambuco

Tabachin (Fairmont Pierre Marques)

  • Revolcadero
  • tel:(+52) 744 - 435 2600
  • Acapulco, 39840

There are some who say this is, or was before Zibu came on the scene, the best restaurant in Acapulco, and some even say one of the best in the country. The ambiance is stately rather than trendy and it will appeal to older diners who lose patience with the fashionistas when it comes down to something serious like good food. The feeling is French-Mexican, and dishes are exquisite as is the personal service. Wines are out of this world. Don't forget the Tequila bar next door. No shorts allowed. Advance reservations necessary. read more about Tabachin (Fairmont Pierre Marques)
