Our trip to the Hyatt ziva was great. The amenities were tremendous but best of all was the buffet style breakfast in the mornings which offered a decent amount of island fare. Sudanne our hostess at the Ziva was tremendous helping us to get what any type of food we desired. She also helped with the amenities in our hotel room making sure the room was like home. Finally Sudanne was so helpful in getting us a driver to take us around the island in comfort and with tremendous knowledge of the island. We really enjoyed our trip to Jamaica and in particular our stay at the Ziva but what really made our stay special was Sudanne our hostess.

Located on the north shore of Jamaica in Montego Bay, this lush, up to date, all-inclusive and physically gorgeous, modern resort was outstanding. There are two resorts (Ziva and Zilara) on the property separated by just a walkway along the beach. We stayed at Ziva, the family resort but had privileges at both. The staff is ultra-friendly and most accommodating. Always with big smiles and a "Ya Mon, whatever you're looking for! Just want to make sure all is IRIE”. The staff at this resort (and every other place I've been to in Jamaica) really treat their guests well - they know who pays the bills! And with a lot of unemployed people on the island, they all seemed to genuinely appreciate the fact that they have a job. Certain restaurants were available to adults only, making it easy enough to get away from any noisy or rambunctious kids (which I actually found very few of). In addition to the usual buffet restaurant, there are a variety of specialty restaurants in the complex including a French, Italian, Asian, Brazilian steakhouse, Caribbean, Seafood and a British pub. There is also an awesome "jerk shack" near the pool where they serve up beautifully spiced jerk pork and jerk chicken all day a la carte (I pretty much hit this one every day I was there). Make sure to add some extra jerk sauce; it’s awesome. Overall the food was very good with the a la carte specialty restaurants serving food worthy of stand-alone restaurants. Pizza at the Italian restaurant was pretty good too (mushroom & Brie). Reservations are not taken and we never had a problem getting in to the restaurant of our choice. The breakfast buffet had all the variety one could ask for and at least two egg/ omelette made to order stations. Abundant breads, cereals, meats, cheeses, fruits, juices, etc. The only small complaint I have is the fruit didn't always look as ripe and appetizing as it could be, especially the watermelon. Oh, and like just about every other hotel/resort, the toaster is really slow. A genuine coffee shop that serves up excellent espresso, lattes and other coffee concoctions is in the Ziva main lobby as well as numerous traditional alcohol bars located strategically around the property; one always seemed to be nearby. Check out the Bob Marley cocktail which is a 3 layer (red, yellow and green) frozen concoction or the Dirty Banana which is dee-lish. With alcohol available all day (some people started before noon) the crowd seemed very well behaved. Most of the time we stayed at the Ziva pools and never really had any issue with noisy children. The beach area is relatively small and some of the shoreline, especially near Ziva, was quite rocky and not particularly hospitable but a little further along it opens up into a small but still quite nice beach area. Towels were always readily available. If you want to rent one of the man private cabanas either by one of the pools or at the beach, reserve early as they seem to go quickly. One reason may be that they don't charge all that much extra. Around $50 gets you a little oasis of privacy within the active sun and fun scenes by the water. I've been to other places (i.e. South Beach) where they charge 5 to 10 times that and more! There were a few outdoor hot tubs that got busy towards the end of each day as people would gather to have cocktails while soaking in the tub. Unfortunately the tubs were all out of service for the last few days of our stay. A minor disappointment overall. Our room was spacious with a king size bed, sofa, sitting chair, and other amenities like a fully stocked (refilled daily) bar fridge and snacks. Thankfully there were enough plugs to make sure all our devices were fully charged overnight. And another thing - and this may seem a bit petty but ...I have been to many fancy hotels and resorts and often find it difficult to figure out which light switches control which lights. In this hotel room all of the switches were labeled properly making it easy to control the room's lighting. Evening entertainment which we took in each night, was good but nothing extraordinary. Probably typical of any other all-inclusive with the staff doing a lot of the entertaining. Seating for the evening entertainment was very nice and varied. Not your typical amphitheater style seating but comfortable seats scattered around the stage area with some really cool fire pit seating which makes getting acquainted with other guests quite easy. No nickel and dime-ing guests; Wi-Fi was available throughout the resort and it worked well most of the time. I’d be very happy to return one day.

My stay at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall was AMAZING!!!! From the moment we arrived, our needs and desires were met with smiling, polite and caring staff. The front desk receptionist Chantelle was exceptional and helpful towards all our needs! As a foodie, I enjoyed the many restaurants options we could choose from and reaturants such as Choicez and Fuzion served great food. The drinks were plentiful and pretty impressive. There was nightly entertainment so no need to really leave the property. The room was clean, always stocked with drinks and snacks. Turn down services were offered at night and housekeeping was always available if additional services were needed. I am already planning to return as I wouldn't THINK ABOUT saying at another hotel!

We returned to Hyatt Ziva for the third time, and the third time was the best. This is the best resort (by far) I have ever stayed at. It starts with the food. Anthony Smart is the services manager responsible for all the restaurants on the Ziva and ZIlara side of the resort. Anthony is highly professional, kind, and does everything possible to make your stay at the resort a pleasant one. He helps in innumerable ways to make sure that all the restaurants run properly. Choicez, the buffet, is equally well run by Desmond, the manager. Kemoy, one of the greeters, is a highly impressive person. She has virtually unlimited potential (hint to the Hyatt), and is very kind and professional. Servers at Choicez who stood out include Ulet and Kevin. As my wife is intolerant to gluten, we had many interactions with the cooks at Choicez, all of whom were excellent and very happy to prepare separate meals for my wife. In particular, Sophia (who is a wonderful human being), Molly, Christopher (both day time and night time cooks), Dwayne, and Imogene stood out for their helpfulness. Imogene makes the cookies for the resort, including those you will find at Bitez. Imogene is incredibly kind and her love of cooking is expressed in the wonderful cookies that she makes. On the ZIlara side (no children unfortunately), Jamaican Roots is one of the best restaurants at the Hyatt. It is run ably by Ricardo. Shamara, a server there, is a wonderfully funny, professional and kind person. Hartly, the chef there, is a very creative person - he made the best gluten free meal that my wife had at the resort. We ate multiple times at De Roza (the italian restaurant) and Arlene (server) and the chefs there (Delando and Mitchie) were all wonderful. In terms of other services, the housekeeping was always professional and excellent - Shannette is a treasure - very kind and considerate - and Vance also stood out. The activities for children were also great at the resort - my 10 year old son had much fun with the Crystal z crew - whether singing or dancing on stage. The Lounge is definitely worth an upgrade. Callela, Rusheeda, Deone and everyone at the Lounge were very kind to us - they are always happy to help make your stay magical. When you stay at a resort, usually something is bad - either the food (normally the food is retched), the staff, or the services. The Hyatt Ziva has no defect worth mentioning. Everything about this resort is excellent. The staff are well treated, and therefore, many of them are there from year to year, making return visits all the more pleasurable. If I could give this resort 6 out of 5 stars, I would. It is magical and you won't be sorry if you go there. We can't wait to go back!
