This hotel in Santiago's famously posh Las Condes neighborhood is located on Isidora Goyonochea, a well-heeled street lined with famous restaurants if the several dining options in the W itself don't float your boat. The hotel offers stellsar views of the Andes mountains, and has a rooftop deck with a pool, an import food store and a couple of bars where the local fashionistas like to see and be seen. It's a feather in Santiago's cap that the W decided to locate in this city, and it is also just steps from uppercrust shopping on Alonso de Cordoba as well as being convenient to the metro and for business meetings in Chile's financial heart, affectionately known as "Sanhattan."

Nh Ciudad De Santiago

Nh Ciudad De Santiago

The NH hotel is well-located right off the main drag (Avda. Providencia) but on a quiet street that backs onto a collection of good options for a second coffee (with wifi) and lunch options. It's also near a busy nightlife hotspot of Manuel Montt which tends towards quirky and good restaurants favored by 9-5ers (who in Chile often work until 7). The hotel is comfortable, and true to this chain's reputation, with a good price to quality ratio. A lobby cafe is often used by guests for informal business meetings.

A veritable Rio landmark, Copacabana Palace continues to enjoy a reputation as one of the most glamorous hotels in Brazil. The immaculate white fašade, beachfront location, immaculately-attired staff and fabulous pool combine to make this an enduring favourite with celebrities visiting the city. The hotel's two restaurants, Cipriani and the less-formal Pergula, offer some of the best food in the city, and non-guests are welcome (provided the budget will stretch!). Try to book a room with sea views, as the magic is somewhat shattered in the rooms at the rear, which look out onto the crowded Copacabana backstreets. Advance booking is essential, and be warned that prices sky rocket over Carnival and New Year. read more about Copacabana Palace
