Caversham Wildlife Park is home to 2,000 species of Australian animals and birds, and it's no regular zoo - you can walk through most of the animal enclosures, feed the kangaroos, pat the koalas and hold a wombat, if you're strong enough! The farm show demonstrates life on an Aussie farm with chances to milk a cow, bottle feed a lamb or learn to crack a whip. Take a picnic to enjoy on the grass next to the kangaroo enclosure or use the barbecues in nearby Whiteman Park. read more about Caversham Wildlife Park

Kings Park & Botanic Gardens

Kings Park & Botanic Gardens

Kings Park, Perth's answer to Central Park, is a short walk uphill from the city centre and has 400 hectares of parks and bush to enjoy. Views over the city of Perth and the Swan River abound from the front of the park, where you can walk the Federation Walkway and explore the Botanic Gardens with thousands of examples of native wildflowers, trees and birdlife. Stop for a meal at Fraser's Restaurant or grab a snack at the cafe; watch the kids play at the Synergy Parkland or if you're feeling fit, climb the DNA Tower.

One of the most popular beaches in Perth, Cottesloe is easily accessible by train and sports a great array of cafes, restaurants and pubs along Marine Parade, the main street nearby. Regular patrols from the local Surf Lifesaving Club help make "Cott" a safe and fun place to swim.
